Chapter 166 The Black Sheep
Chapter 166 The Black Sheep
Kyle got into the car. The night was a lot of fun, and neither of them had anything alcoholic to drink.
It was a good moment for them and they slowly realized that Jane brought them together.
She was the one who made the moment possible because she trusted Ella around Kyle and vice-versa.
Ella was glad that this man was in their lives. She had her reservations, but Kyle did something that she was certain no one would ever do for her in this lifetime. That warmed her heart. She felt safe with Kyl, and that was something she had never felt before, even in her past relationships.
"Are you alright?" Kyle asked, Ella was a lot quieter than when they came here.
"I'm great..." Ella responded with a broad smile on her face prompting Kyle to shrug.
Kyle was comfortable with silence but he also knew that the date coming to an end.
It was ideal to ask her about her parents, the high had settled.
The adrenaline and festive mode had been toned down so this was the perfect time to further that conversation.
"Do you have something to get off your chest? I'm willing to listen," Kyle said softly, offering her a listening ear.
Once he knew she needed more than she let on, if everything worked out then he would be an integral part of her life that would help keep Jane under control in his absence.
She wouldn't poison her mind either because Jane might be a lady he fancied but she was naive when it came to men.
He couldn't protect all the time but with Ella's help, it should be possible.
"No, no. I'm fine, I promise!" Ella responded in an upbeat manner.
If it was any other girl, they would have their phone out to take pictures and post everywhere on social media just to show the world that they are 'living' but Ella didn't look at her phone even when it rang.
Kyle appreciated this little gesture, it was a respectful one even though she did glance at it.

Whoever was calling might just not have been important.
"I just realized I know nothing about you," Kyle pointed out, this was his attempt to make her tell him about herself without making her feel like she was imposing.
Cleopatra didn't pay her any attention because she knew that Ella wouldn't do anything more than throw a tantrum.
A woman walked into the room, she looked exhausted and one could tell by her tired face that whatever job she was doing was a handful.
"Cleo, that isn't very nice. Let your sister finish her...!" The lady interrupted.
"She was watching adult music... Screaming sociopaths..." Cleopatra said, pausing as she looked at her younger sister.
"No wonder you're so messed up," Cleopatra said.
"CLEO!" The lady gasped, she hated when she did this and before she could look down to comfort Ella.
Tears already welled up in her eyes and she immediately ran to her room but not before saying.
"I HATE YOU!"
Cleopatra didn't seem affected by this but this woman was, kissing her teeth in frustration as she ran to comfort Ella.
She knew it was her job to take care of the kids and house, fights between siblings were normal however it didn't mean those fights couldn't have long-lasting effects on their relationship.
C; Cleopatra might have been too young to understand this but she knew that Ella was far from her family's favourite.
She tried to get in but Ella had locked the door behind her.
"Ella, let me in sweetheart," The lady pleaded but all she heard from the back of the door was sobbing.
Unlike Ella, Cleopatra was a spoiled child who got everything she wanted even without trying.
She was favoured by her mother especially because she was the ideal representation of the female child.
Ella was the outcast and the lady that took care of them knew she had to find a way to make Ella feel loved and Ella knew that she cared about her.
This was why the door was unlocked shortly after to let her in.
Ella walked back to her bed, brought her knees up and buried her face in them.
This was the first core memory that Ella established of her maid, Veronica.
