Book 3, Chapter 362: Cutting Through The Clouds And Wind
Boom! The spot that Chen Chuan had used as the platform for his jump shattered, and the entire airship swayed as he plunged down.
Howling wind blew against him so hard that his hair and clothes were blown back violently. The clouds were also torn apart as he passed by.
After descending a certain distance, red light shone behind him and brought him into one of the gaps. Bright light appeared abruptly in front of him, as if he had made it inside in the blink of an eye.
He couldn’t tell how much time had passed. It felt like forever, but also like only a heartbeat later that the light dissipated, and he appeared outside. Right away, the red light brought him into another gap.
He moved through the gaps as quickly as lightning. When he showed up outside his last gap, he was above the Ferris wheel.
The light coming out of it was like a vertical vortex. Countless white threads of light gushed out of it and gathered on a gigantic thing that was more than two hundred meters tall.
The lower half of its body resembled gushing air that was moving outward, while its upper body was condensed into a ball that looked like it was formed from multiple coiling tentacles. They curled up occasionally, then expanded. The creature’s size changed because of this.
Blinding lights spread out of its body and cast the sky and ocean in a dazzling, beautiful glow.
The coiling tentacles were covered in glowing things resembling eyes, while the body was covered in layers of ever-changing streams of air that looked like flowing liquid. The clouds surrounding the creature were moving in an abnormal manner. They gathered around above the spot connecting the land and sea.
Chen Chuan knew that what he saw was unstable. This was a projection of the existence’s biofield from the other world, an illusion it created with its mind. Still, if he didn’t take care of it in time, this creature would gain a physical form.
The existence seemed to have sensed something and started hauling its body up. All the eyes on its coiling tentacles looked up at the same time. They wanted to do something, because a cluster of them lit up one after another on the tentacles.
An invisible wave of power spread out from Ferris Wheel. It rose into the air, and when the light from the vortex shone on it, it was as if a pillar of light was rising into the sky.
At the same time, twelve locations on the peninsula lit up, and their lights connected with each other.
The light from the twelve locations served as a guide for the ray of light from Ferris Wheel. Once it reached its highest point, it split up into thin wisps and spread outward to cover and pin the existence in place.
Regardless of whether it was the vortex, the existence, or all the abnormal sights it caused around it, the moment the wisps of light fell on them, they froze for a second.
With his eyes fixed on the existence, Chen Chuan brought his arms up and lifted the Frost King Saber.
His mind was more focused than ever before, and with his powerful will as a hook, he dragged a wisp of power from the other world over onto his saber and had it merge with the mysterious power inside. In an instant, it let out a brilliant light.
The clock struck midnight, and his second self returned to the peak of his strength. The red smoke seemed to have sensed something, and an unparalleled power attached to him. The light on the Frost King Saber exploded in intensity and instantly traveled dozens of meters away.
Chen Chuan’s power and mind increased to an unprecedented peak. Behind him was white fog and red smoke, while in his raised hands was a saber glow that could cut through the sky. Then, with the power of a plunging star, he swung down.
The saber cut into the existence. The dazzling light sank into the vortex and the top of the gigantic existence before going straight down and landing on the ground with an explosive bang.
Those watching from afar saw a red-and-white lightning traveling down from the sky in an arc. It tore apart the murky fog and dazzling lights to strike the ground. After a brief pause, a bright light exploded from within. It was so blinding that all of them shut their eyes and covered them with their hands.
A gust came from the horizon that was so strong that it felt like it wanted to push them back. All they could hear was its howls.
A long while passed. When the powerful light faded slightly, they opened their eyes.
Someone cried out in surprise, “Look!”
They turned their gazes over, and surprise colored their faces. The 200-meter-tall Ferris wheel had been split in half. The cut ran straight down the middle.
A moment later, they heard loud creaks. Then, as its frame bent and its parts fell, the cut circle fell to the sides. Sparks flew in the middle, and they were mixed with the sound of metal bending. As smoke rose and the ground trembled, the crowd watched in shock as the Ferris wheel tumbled down with a loud crash.
One half fell on the land and caused a large cloud of dust and rubble to fly up. Loud rumbling sounds came from the impact.
The other half fell into the sea and caused such a huge splash that a huge pillar of water shot into the air. White bubbles and waves surged up and struck the beach. Even the ones standing far away felt water splashing on their faces.

At that moment, the screens formed by biosentient entities of all the departments watching the fight wavered and blurred, thus causing them to be unable to see what was going on.
Even so, their eyes were fixed on the screens. They didn’t want to miss a single detail. Most of them felt anxious and uneasy. They wanted to know what had happened.
It took a long while for the interference to disappear and their screens to stabilize. As the smoke and fog faded, they saw the full picture, and it made them hold their breath.
A huge pit that looked like it had been left behind by a meteorite had shown up on the peninsula. It was so big that seawater had rushed inside it. Amid the disappearing smoke was a person. He was standing inside the pit.
It was Chen Chuan. He remained in the stance after he finished the attack. Around him, wisps of white fog rose up. There was also red light circling him.
Across from him was Wu Qi. The many compound eyes on its head and chest were trained on him, while behind him was a huge illusion conjured by the existence’s mind. It was so large that it blocked Chen Chuan’s view of what was behind it. The shining eyes on the coiling tentacles were also fixed on him.
Chen Chuan met all the gazes head-on.
The standoff lasted for a while. Then, the illusion swayed before letting off a ghostlike, indignant howl and slowly disappearing into a gust of wind.
Once the illusion disappeared, Wu Qi regained control, and it twitched. Right away, there was a loud snap, and a crack appeared on its forehead.
But what they saw wasn’t flesh behind the crack. Instead, it was a burnt and dried mess.
The crack spread downward until it reached the bottom of its body. First, half of its head fell off, followed by its wide shoulders. Then, like rotten wood, its body fell apart piece by piece.
Once its legs cracked with loud snaps, its heavy body hit the ground and shattered. A loud boom tore through the air, and countless shattered pieces shot out in the form of rolling dust.
When Chen Chuan saw that Wu Qi had truly been defeated, he gave his saber a quick shake and straightened up. The fog from the sea had dispersed due to the gusts stirred up during the clash. The wind lifted up the gray shards and made them dance around Chen Chuan like snow.
Xu Chan’s team stood nearby. When they noticed the situation changing, they had retreated outside the fighting area, but they didn’t leave the place.
At that moment, their chests were heaving as they watched this stunning scene and the person with the saber.
They had known that someone else was in charge of the final attack. They just didn’t expect that it would be delivered in such a manner.
They had almost thought that the operation was going to end in failure a moment ago.
A second passed, and Xu Chan regained his composure. He cast a glance at the cut Ferris wheel, then at Chen Chuan. When he recalled that astonishing slash delivered with unparalleled courage, he said, “Nicely done.”

When the people in the command center saw everything, they were silent for a long moment before they started cheering in excitement.
Sentry Tower spoke up. “Wu Qi’s domain has been confirmed to have disappeared. Unidentified lifeform of the other world has also been confirmed to have disappeared. It has been destroyed or chased out. Based on the feedback from the other departments, Operation Horizon has been successfully completed.”
This led to another round of even louder cheers. Even Liang Guanghai looked relaxed, as if a huge weight had been removed from his shoulders.
A moment later, he schooled his features and said, “The Fu-Mu Entity is still propagating. Pull yourselves together, all of you.”
His words lacked their usual edge.
The officers agreed to it, but they were still grinning widely.
They had managed to get rid of Ferris Wheel’s active biosentient entity and the existence from the other world. While the Fu-Mu Entity was still propagating and they were facing threats from within, they couldn’t possibly be any greater.
Liang Guanghai was silent for a moment before turning to his assistant. “Send a group of medical officers to check on Lao Xu, his team, and Captain Chen. We need to make sure that they’re safe.”
As long as Third Limit martial artists were alive, they could recover from any wounds. But they had come into close contact with the existence, so there was no guarantee that it hadn’t left some problems in their bodies. They needed to be examined thoroughly.
After a brief pause, he continued, “Tell them to stay safe. They’re the pillars of the Great Shun Republic. After this matter is over, I’ll see to it that they get the credit they deserve.”
