Life didn't get easier, even in another world.

Chapter 400 Not again

Chapter 400 Not again

400 Not again

Kairen stepped onto the railing barefoot and looked down. A part of the city was visible under his feet. Cars has stopped, people had frozen in their spots, children were crying, and street cats were running around creating a scene. Everyone was shocked by the phenomenon and even Kairen was no exception. ZZZZZz

ZZZZZZZZAaaAAp

Golden and silver particles of light came to life and like small worms, crawled around Kairen and floated in the air. They intensified in an instant and filled the whole balcony with brilliant electric-like cracks. 'I've seen this before.'

This scene was similar to what Kairen saw in his previous world, but also different from it. He raised his head to glare at the gates which were threatening to burst out monsters at any moment. Kairen didn't even need to think to understand what'd happen if those monsters attacked this city, no, this world. Even if he hadn't experienced it himself, he'd seen the state of the world and the records of the time when these gates first attacked his previous world. Kairen didn't want such a tragedy to repeat itself. Zaaaapppp As golden and silver currents danced around him, Kairen closed his eyes and reached out his hands. If he wanted to, he could devour the gates around him and clear the monsters off completely, however, what'd happen to the other gates if he did that? If the other parts of the world were raided with monsters, then this city and these people wouldn't be safe either.

Kairen had just returned to his home. He'd finally found his family. He didn't want to lose them again. He didn't want any dangers to befall them either. In his closed vision, Kairen had a clear image of what the overall power flow of the world looked like. He'd done this before many times when he wanted to detect and destroy gates, so he was familiar with it. 'I just need to extract enough power from each to stop the monsters from appearing. I can also scatter the universal energies in the gates to lower their power...'

He couldn't do anything more than that on such short notice. "Haaaaahhh!"

With burning light, electric currents jumped around the boy like small fries. The balcony's floor peeled and the walls dented inside. The shattered glass scattered everywhere. Aaron's body was pushed back into the hospital room. Ooonnggg

Ooonngg

Aaron raised his head towards the source of the noise. The gates up in the sky were swirling, but not just swirling, they were shaking. The gates were clearly quivering. The monsters that threatened to fall down from the gates were nowhere to be seen. "Uh..."

A muffled gasp left Aaron's lips. He switched his gaze to look at the figure still on the balcony. The lights surrounding him were gone and now the body was weakly descending. It was falling down!

"Ah!"

With a large leap, Aaron crossed over to the edge of the balcony and caught the falling body. "Mmmm..." His brother groaned before opening his eyes. His expression was as drained as a dried leaf. Aaron looked up at the gates again. They were quiet, looked dull, colorless, and vulnerable. What has he done, this brother of his, thought the man as he caressed the boy's head. The fear inside of him was gone as if it never existed. It felt embarrassing in fact, that he couldn't do anything at all and just watched the scene play, that he was feeling reassured due to something this little boy has done, that these days, he felt so helpless and weak that he could do nothing for his brother, yet he had no way to stop this boy, did he?

"Mmm... I guess they won't cause danger for a short while..." spoke Kairen as he raised his body a little bit.
