Chapter 2 – Preparation
Part 1
This was when Yuuya had a mock battle with Rikuto.
Ryo and the others had gone shopping in the city to prepare for the Christmas party.
“Um... was it okay for me to join you? And also, thank you for inviting me to the party...”
Kaori said apologetically.
That’s right, Kaori was also part of this shopping group.
She had just returned home from telling her father, Tsukasa, that she had returned to Japan when she accidentally bumped into Ryo and the others, who were on their way to buy party supplies after school.
Since Ryo and the others invited Kaori to the Christmas party, she agreed to go, and so she came along to do the shopping.
“It’s okay, it’s okay! A party is more fun with lots of people, right?”
“That’s right! We originally wanted to have a party to celebrate Yuuya and Kaori’s return to Japan.”
“B-but didn’t we just go ahead and do it without asking you? Didn’t we cause you any trouble?”
“No, no, it was a great pleasure!”
Kaori had been invited to many parties during her time abroad, including the one Joshua had organized.
However, this was the first time she had been to a party with her close friends, so she was really looking forward to it.
And so, while chatting, they arrived at their destination, a large general store where all sorts of goods were sold.
Ryo and the others quickly made their way to the party goods section and began browsing the various items available.
“Come to think of it, what do you think we need for the party?”
“I-it’s Christmas, so maybe a Christmas tree?”
“Oh, Santa Claus cosplay would be fun too!”
“Cosplay?”
“That’s right! It’s more fun to start with the appearance, right?”
Kaede said happily, and Rin smiled.
“Really? Are you going to seduce Yuuya with extreme cosplay?”
“Eh, is that so?!”
“No, it’s not! I’m just going to wear a Santa hat or something!”
“Eh? Really?”
“Kaede-san?”
“Rin-chan! And you too, Kaori, don’t take it seriously!”
Ryo smiled wryly as he watched the three of them making a fuss.
“Well, leaving aside the whole ‘seducing with cosplay’ thing, Kaede’s right; it might be interesting to have a hat and a fake beard. It’ll give it a real Christmas feel.”
“Y-yeah, and if we’re going to do Santa cosplay, it might be nice to have a reindeer, too.”
“Oh yeah! How about a Christmas tree, too?”
“Huh? Wouldn’t that be too cute?”
“Well, let’s get it ready!”
While they were talking and looking around the cosplay section, Rin noticed something.
“Hmm? This is...”
“Rin-chan? What’s wrong?”
“Kaede! Kaori! Try this on!”
“Eh? Eh?”
“W-what is this?”
The two girls’ eyes widened as Rin suddenly pushed something at them.
Kaede and Kaori looked at the object that had been thrust at them and were even more surprised.
“Ri-Rin-chan? This is...”
“It’s the Santa Claus costume we were talking about earlier. Why don’t you two go and try it on?”
“Try it on? Is that even possible?”
Kaede was surprised as she never thought that cosplay items could be tried on. Rin continued.
“It says here that you can try them on, so I guess you can. And there’s a changing room as well.”
“R-really...?”
“Of course it is!”
Kaede nodded vigorously, and then Shingo spoke.
“T-That’s right. I was just talking to Ryo-kun earlier, and I thought, while we’re at it, why don’t we prepare some costumes for Rin-san as well?”
“I-I see! That’s a good idea!”
Kaori also agreed with her suggestion, and Kaede laughed happily.
“That’s a good idea... Usually, Rin-chan always gets the better of me, but this time...”
“Yes. So I want you two to pick out some clothes for Rin to wear. Can you do that?”
“Leave it to us!”
“Are you done changing?”
“””””!”””””
Rin had just returned when it was decided that she would also get a costume to wear.
“O-oh, I just finished changing!”
“Hmm? Why are you in such a hurry?”
“Oh, am I in a hurry? I think you’re imagining things.”
“No, you’re acting suspiciously.”
Seeing that Ryo was acting strangely, Rin frowned, and then Shingo spoke.
“W-well, is there anything else you think we might need?”
“Hmm? Oh, I think we have most of what we need, but I think we need to decorate the room, don’t you?”
“Decorate?”
“At first, I thought we didn’t need to, but since we’ve gone through all this trouble, I thought it would be more interesting if we went the extra mile.”
“That’s a good idea. Then let’s find a corner to decorate.”
“Oh, I think I saw one over here.”
Rin said and went ahead.
Seeing her, Ryo took a deep breath.
“Phew... that was close...”
“R-Ryo-kun, you’re not good at lying...”
“Anyway, Kaede and Kaori, hurry up and get Rin’s cosplay.”
“Got it!”
“I’ll find something cute!”
With that, Kaede and Kaori hurriedly browsed the cosplay section and decided to buy a certain outfit.
With the cosplay outfit selection over, everyone was looking at the decoration item section when Ryo had an idea.
“...Oh, that’s right! I completely forgot, but the gift exchange is a must!”
“Yeah, that’s right. Well, let’s each prepare a gift for the exchange.”
Since Christmas is a time for giving presents, everyone readily accepted the idea of exchanging gifts.
After buying all the essentials, Ryo and the others decided to order the most important one: the cake.
“Now, the last thing we need to do is order the cake... Do any of you know where there’s a good cake shop around here?”
“W-well, I don’t know... I don’t usually eat sweets...”
“Me neither. Do you know any good places?”
Kaede and the others show a slight sign of thought regarding this question.
“Hmm... there are a lot of places, but if we’re looking for the closest place that serves good cake... I guess it would be Sweet Magic.”
“Ah, that place! I went there with Kaede once, and it was definitely delicious.”
Rin nodded, remembering the cake she had eaten there.
After hearing her opinion, Ryo decided to order a cake there.
“Well then, let’s try that place!”
“H-huh? Mmm, come to think of it, I’ve seen that place somewhere before...”
On the other hand, Shingo seemed to remember the name of the shop, but he couldn’t remember where he had heard it.
However, now that they had decided on a cake shop to order a cake from, they had arrived at their destination, Sweet Magic──.
“Welcome!”
And there, standing in the Sweet Magic uniform, was Akira.
