Chapter 126: Chapter 77: The Depressed Giant Spider
After the gathering concluded, it was already quite late.
"Do you want me to take you home?" Yilin asked, looking at Hexia in front of the restaurant door.
"There's no need." The young girl shook her head, not out of embarrassment, but because she wanted to walk alone tonight.
Seeing her so unconstrained and generous, Yilin knew Hexia was not just being polite, nodded, "Then be careful tonight."
"When's your next day off? Let's go shopping together."
"Next time should be the weekend as well."
"It's a deal then," Yilin whispered.
"It's a deal." Hexia nodded, then gently hugged Yilin before waving goodbye.
Watching her walk at ease into the neon-lit streets of the night, Yilin remained standing there, gazing into the distance for a long time.
"Tilan has grown up."
Although she had been the main support today, even if Tilan were alone, she would probably have been fine, though the process might have been a lot more subdued. That was just the way Tilan was, always so gentle, never wanting to conflict with others. She called over her parked vehicle from nearby, then entered it.

Back at home, and after falling asleep, Hexia seemed to have a very long dream, where she revisited many past events. The emotions she had kept bottled up burst out today, resulting in a great deal of relief and comfort.
The next day, she went to work at 'Dream of Glazed Glass' once again.
After changing her clothes and entering the shop, Hexia suddenly thought of something—that it might be awkward if her classmates came looking for her.
Fortunately, that didn't happen. Perhaps everyone thought the consumption in Topstar Tower was too expensive, or maybe they didn't want to disturb Hexia.
The day flew by as usual.
In the morning, she helped out at other bars, practiced the violin at Andusia's place at noon, and it wasn't until the afternoon that she went to her 'library'.
As this was her exclusive territory, the decor was all according to her liking, with several comfortable chairs arranged and a few boxes of cookies and snacks hidden in small cubbies in the cabinet, just like Deklabi did.
They would come in handy at times, whether it was to treat acquaintances or for her own consumption.
Today she had a trial run in front of her companions once more, recounting the second half of 'The Poem of the Seven Chui Birds', and then it was nearly closing time in the afternoon.
"Still not happy, huh? It hasn't really been eating much," Botis shook her head, pointing to the few small cubes she placed for it in the morning.
"Did it fail in its ascension to Sequence 5?" Hexia asked softly.
"That should be the case. A few days ago, I noticed something off with the Aijeika particles in the enclosure, a kind of remnant left over after the overflow of magic power. Then, I found massive traces of that residue on this guy," she continued.
"It was supposed to be at the Withering Sequence 4, around the strength of the Superior Radiant Gold Level. This failed ascension, not only did it fail to enter Sequence 5, but its core was also damaged, and now it only has the strength of a standard Radiant Gold Level. I guess it can't accept it, so it feels upset."
Hearing Botis's explanation, the large spider suddenly hissed a few times, clearly annoyed at Botis for revealing its scars in front of Hexia.
"Okay, okay, I'll stop," Botis waved her hands, letting the wolf spider settle down for the time being and then gave Hexia a 'see, just as expected' look.
"Um..." Hexia was at a loss whether to cry or laugh at this moment, touched by the rich emotions of the animal.
After a little while, the two observed and took care of the large spider, then slowly exited the area.
"Failed in its ascension, huh..." The girl pondered, thinking along the way how to help this little buddy she was usually familiar with.
"It's like that with animals; their difficulty in ascension is actually much higher than that of humans," Botis mentioned on the side. Aside from the very few exceptions, the proportion of animals ascending ranks is generally lower than that of humans.
For example, out of 20-30 humans at Sequence 3, one might enter Sequence 4. But among animals, it could be that only one in hundreds, maybe thousands, of Sequence 3 specimens has the luck to advance to Sequence 4.
"Therefore, some Transcendents specialize in breeding and assisting animals in their ascension and employ these animals as their own power, achieving a kind of win-win and mutual assistance effect," she added.
"Within the Rose Federation, the inheritance of breeders is quite ancient, and many of the precious materials we are familiar with come from such 'courtyards'," Botis explained.
"'Courtyards'?" Hexia asked curiously.
"Yes, those are environments specially created by breeders for those animals, suitable for their survival and reproduction. Later on, some large factions and organizations even specifically build such places, producing various resources, also referred to as 'courtyards'," Botis elaborated.
"For example, the 'Three March Silks' popular among the federal upper echelon where the 'Snowfluff Silk' comes from the silk spit by the Snowfluff Scale-winged moths, and the Emerald Moon Star Domain's 'Snowfluff Courtyard' has the most of those moths. This T4-grade silk is used in the making of many exquisite garments; the fabric is comfortable, the colors soft and beautiful, irresistible to the touch," she continued.
"The other two types of the 'Three March Silks' are each different: 'Inlay Moon Silk' is made from the fibers of a certain transcendent plant spun into yarn, and 'Dusk Moon Silk' is said to be made using a secret technique that condenses the lingering light of the evening sun, woven into fabric by a special method," she described.
"I've heard there's a 'Yuanting Academy' in the Northern First District," Hexia suddenly spoke up.
"'Yuanting Academy,' indeed, they used to be famous as breeders, possessing their own 'Wind Kite Courtyard' in the Northern First District. However, with the environment inside the Jade Skirt deteriorating and the poison rain corroding, their 'Wind Kite Courtyard' has been destroyed. Hence, they are not as powerful as they used to be," Botis shook her head.
"This wolf spider, I chose and bought it two years ago from the 'Purple Gall Courtyard' in the Phosphorite Star Domain. I grew familiar with it in the courtyard over a month before it was willing to follow me. Now that it has a problem with its ascension, I guess I will have to contact someone from the 'Purple Gall Courtyard' to resolve the after-sales issue," Botis lay on the table, feeling like she was about to spend a lot of money again.
Asking the 'Purple Gall Courtyard's staff to solve the after-sales issue wouldn't be cheap, but she couldn't just watch this big guy stop eating and drinking, sadly moping alone in a corner.
