Chapter 219 They Have Skill Cards

Chapter 219 They Have Skill Cards

With this place cleared of enemies aside from those that ran off, I was free to loot the place relatively safely for now.

Naturally, I couldn't stay here for long since other contestants might also come here to loot soon.

I quickly inspected the weapons that were dropped but none of them were better than the rifle I had looted so I left them behind and only took the ammo. The only additional gun I took was the sniper rifle that the first guy had dropped.

The only problem was that there was no scope on the rifle so I suspect those would be something that we could pick up as well.

Double checking that my gear was in order, I left the factory building I was in and stepped outside, careful of ambushes.

Everything was quiet for now so I took the chance to inspect my surroundings.

Then, out of habit for playing these kinds of games, I moved my right arm up to look at my wrist as though I was checking the time, which was a movement that would bring up the map of the area in the game I used to play.

I almost felt stupid for doing something like that when a map actually appeared on my wrist showing the map of the battlefield.

There was even a circle around a specific area which I assumed would be where the map's zone would shrink to in a while. Find your next adventure on My Virtual Library Empire

Heck, I could see the edges of the map already starting to turn red slowly which meant the play area was already in the midst of shrinking.

Good news, the map does show me where I am and it even shows where my teammates were currently at, where they were all inside the safe zone.

Bad news, I was outside the safe zone and I have a feeling none of my team members know about this map function.

I cracked my knuckles before equipping my assault rifles, orienting myself in the direction of the circle before starting my trek towards the next safe zone.

I'm not sure if this place had any vehicles for us to use but I didn't see any around anyway, so walking it is.

There's still notifications popping up in the corner of my view where people are still being taken out every minute. But since I don't hear any gunshots around, there shouldn't be any fights nearby right now.

That meant I was still looting as I went along as I scoured the industrial buildings for more loot as I passed them, hoping for better weapons or just taking the ammo that I found since there doesn't seem to be a limit on how much ammo we could carry.

While walking through one of the factories and picking up ammo for my assault rifle, I heard a gunshot go off in one of the upper levels and immediately dove for cover.

I held my rifle close and I peeked at my shield, only to see that it was still full.

Several shots were fired and then another source of gunshots rang out nearby.

Seems another group of people were fighting upstairs.

I slotted this Target Marking ability into one of the card slots.

Once that was in, I tried looking around and it doesn't seem like anything changed until another enemy ran into the building, also drawn by the current gunfight that had intensified upstairs.

I immediately tried to 'mark' him and his body turned completely red in my vision.

The guy then ran towards the stairs which should have hid him from view but I could still see him climbing up the stairs through the wall until two seconds passed and his figure disappeared.

Oh damn, this would be quite useful for me to plan ambushes and keep track of enemies that I'm fighting. This is pretty cool.

In the game I was used to, we had 'abilities' as well but they came more in the form of equipment instead of cards like this so this skill might be granted in the form of a pair of goggles that you can put on or something like that.

Seems like they had expanded on this for this game.

Speaking of which, I looked at the second card which had a figure swing on a rope.

[Active Skill - Grappling Hook: Allows user to deploy a grappling hook that can stick onto any surface to be used to swing or pull user around. Cooldown time: Eight Seconds.]

Oh damn, this would definitely be useful in getting around!

I quickly slotted that card into another empty slot on my belt and this time, a small tube appeared under each of my wrists.

I instinctively knew that these were the grappling hooks that I could use to manoeuvre myself around the battlefield.

Seems like red boxes might contain skill cards like these and if the opponent had skill cards on them, I could potentially loot them if I manage to defeat them as well.

Now I want to join the fight above just to see how well I can make use of these new abilities.

I went out into the centre of the factory, making sure that there was no one around before aiming my left wrist at one of the windows that was on the second floor.

With just a thought, the grappling hook shot out from under my wrist and stuck itself above the window frame.

I then willed the grappling hook to start pulling me towards it and I felt myself flying towards the window at a relatively fast speed.

The firefight there was still ongoing but no one expected anyone to appear through the window. So when I jumped through the opening while disengaging the grappling hook at the same time, I found three guys all standing out in the open caught completely by surprise.

I didn't even need to aim and simply fired my rifle from the hip, quickly adding three more kills to my name.

Ok, this is actually fun. Are there other ways to play this game outside of this Pleasure Station? Because now I want to get this game for myself!
