Chapter 55: Training With Morgaine 1
Chapter 55: Training With Morgaine 1
"First, I see how strong my opponent is..." Morgaine said as she stopped taunting Ryuk.
In the next instant, a blue holographic panel appeared, which she quickly began typing on.
The various cave ins around the area began closing up, the cracks mending themselves, and the robots being absorbed into the walls. Less than half a minute later, the room Ryuk stood in was spotlessly clean and sparkling white.
’Interesting...’ he thought to himself.
"Ryuk, right?" she suddenly asked.
Ryuk nodded his head. He wasn’t surprised she knew, as he was well aware of how widely his ’reputation’ was spreading.
"Yes. And you are?" he asked, thinking of her as ’the girl’—which was a bit tiring.
"I am Morgaine."
"So tell me, Ryuk, what is that one special thing you’ve noticed about us Fallens?" Morgaine asked.
Before Ryuk could think of what was in his mind, the air slapped heavily across his face, and Morgaine appeared just a few centimetres away from him.
"Well, you all are pretty fast. Crazy fast..."
"That’s a solid point. After the Shadow Walkers with their ability to fade into shadows, we Fallens are the second fastest race."
"When I moved just now, I clicked my fingers twice, swerved my sticky hair back, smoothed it with my hands, and wiped the sweat off my face."
"But all you saw me do was simply take a single step forward and arrive in front of you, right?"
"You never saw the rest of the motion, did you?" Morgaine asked, her voice as taunting as ever.
Ryuk couldn’t argue—he really did pick up the sight of her feet leaving the ground but never caught the rest of the actions she mentioned.
"We Fallens pride ourselves on speed and overwhelming power. Our battles end in a few seconds. We love to overwhelm our opponents rather than going one by one, testing abilities and all that nonsense."
"The Way of the Fallen is the Way of Domination."
The power of the backhand was so immense that Ryuk’s legs slammed into the ground and then spined back into the air, revolving twice from the momentum before slowly dropping down.
’How... how fast...?’
He thought as he saw Morgaine slowly raise her hands. Then, she faded into thin air.
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG
A mini-shockwave rippled through the air as Ryuk, before his feet could land back to the ground, was sent flying away from the arena with twice the speed he had come running in before, slamming into the wall and digging through it.
TRICKLE... TRICKLE...
In the dead silence that followed, the sound of blood trickling onto the ground broke through. As the dust settled, it revealed Ryuk sitting in the crack imprinted in the wall, blood trailing down his jaw and dripping onto the ground.
"Did I use too much strength? Perhaps I should have lowered my strength to 5%..." Morgaine muttered, just loud enough for Ryuk to hear.
In the next instant, she watched as strands of stone fell downward, and Ryuk tore himself out of the wall, landing on his feet.
Raising his head, Morgraine caught sight of the wound on his head rapidly closing. In less than five seconds, it had disappeared, leaving not even the blood behind.
"No. Your current strength is just perfect. Let’s continue, shall we?" Ryuk asked as he cracked his back, and his neck.
This would be the official first time fighting a Fallen Genius and he wanted to make sure he made good use of it.
Morgaine’s 10% true power was just perfect. Not too much to overwhelm and far from being too easy for him.
Morgraine smirked before, once more, she faded into thin air.
But in the next instant, the ground beneath Ryuk also shook as he tore forward rapidly, two punches—one milky white and one glowing with golden energy—slamming hard at the center of the arena, sending chaotic pulses of energy and shockwaves rippling through the entire area.
