Chapter 283: 282 Heaven Hell
Chapter 283: 282 Heaven Hell
"Ah, ah, ah, we won, we won! We won! Ahhh!"
On the television screen, Arrowhead Stadium erupted into a frenzy as a fan clad in a red number twenty-three jersey bounced and bounded between seats and walkways, frantically waving his arms as if he truly believed that if he flapped them fast enough, he could take flight, sprinting all the way.
Finally, he stood at the very front of the stands, vigorously swinging his arms at the overhead boom camera as he roared at the top of his lungs.
"Victory! Victory! Victoryyy!"
Veins bulged above his neck, spittle flew, and it looked like he might explode right there on the spot, but clearly, this ecstatic spectator couldn’t care less, just shouting his heart out as heat from the depths of his soul surged forth.
Luckily, he wasn’t alone—
The Arrowhead Stadium, which had been silent to the extreme, suppressed to the extreme, and even seemed to teeter on the brink of despair, began to slowly resurrect itself with the energy of the Edgerunner shown once again by Li Wei, finally erupting like a volcano.
The whole world started to shake.
Everyone was roaring, shouting, jumping, shaking the world with all their might as waves of heat rolled everywhere, like magma burning without restraint, and the sparkles in the air ignited a boundless red tumult that burst forth with unbelievable energy.
Red, a sea of red—
Once, Li Wei had ignited a sea of red at Bryant Denny Stadium, leaving behind a legend in that tranquil town; now, Li Wei was waking up the dormant sea of red at Arrowhead Stadium.
The gloom was swept away.
Last year, the Kansas City Chiefs were defeated at their home ground by the Pittsburgh Steelers, a nightmare that seemed to never end, dragging them bit by bit into the abyss, where the long night saw no dawn.
Until now.
Number twenty-three, that rookie running back, with wheels of wind and fire under his legs, dragged the Kansas City Chiefs from the endless dark abyss and sprinted towards the sun, reigniting a golden flame in Kansas City.
And then, it was beyond control—
"Li Wei."
Someone cried out. It was unclear who was the first, but that call quickly resonated, spreading through the crowd like wildfire.
"Li Wei! Li Wei! Li Wei!"
Over and over again.
The entire world was at his feet, trembling.
If Arrowhead Stadium was heaven, then the ESPN studio was hell.
This scene plunged Bart into deep despair, the same place but two entirely different worlds.
A reversal, was it actually a reversal?
As the host of the program "Inside the League," dealing with the jabbering discussions of ten professionals was a Herculean task, making each show feel like an aerobic exercise; and now, he faced the embarrassing predicament of his guest zoning out. Crosby just wanted to grab Bart’s shoulder and shake him violently:
Wake up, this is live! Live!
However, the expressions of the others in the ESPN studio were full of schadenfreude:
A rare opportunity! The chance to witness a car crash up close doesn’t come every day, miss this one, and who knows when the next will be.
One by one, they dragged over their stools, focused intently, as if only a bowl of peanuts was missing.
Crosby’s smile was on the verge of collapsing.
"Bart!"
Finally, Bart snapped out of it, extracting himself from his own worries.
Looking up, Bart could feel everyone’s eyes converging on him, and not just Lawson’s.
Although Lawson was an honest man, that did not mean he did not know how to do a show. "Blair, you said that after this game there could be a conclusion, so, what is the conclusion?"
Bart was cornered in an instant.
"Li Wei!"
"Li Wei!"
"Li Wei!"
In the television screen, the deafening cheers from Arrowhead Stadium continued unabated, Kansas City Chiefs fans were thoroughly enjoying the moment.
Bart took a deep breath, clenched his teeth, stamped his foot, and steeled his heart.
"A spectacular game, a spectacular victory."
"Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs, congratulations to Li Wei, without a doubt this was a thrilling victory, and the Chiefs deserved the final win."
A pause, then getting to the point.
"Li Wei proved himself, seizing control at the crucial moment with a brilliant performance that exploited the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive group’s judgment error, creating the most thrilling and smartest final touchdown of the week. Victory belongs to him."
"I, was wrong."
"My judgment was biased and one-sided, and horribly off. Faced with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Li Wei withstood the test and took it a step further, delivering efficient and stable output from the start of the season until now, without a doubt he’s currently the most outstanding running back."
"As of now, Li Wei is indeed the rookie with the most star potential in the 2017 class."
"I have to admit, Li Wei is excellent, and he may even be better than we had imagined."
Finally, Bart bowed his head.
