Chapter 198 : Coincidence Across the Entire Continent
Chapter 198 : Coincidence Across the Entire Continent
Coincidence Across the Entire ContinentThe bored Serea walked into the tavern, and just as she entered, someone called out.
"Wom...ahem, my lord."
Serea turned her head to see Leon waving at her. Seeing this, Serea walked over and sat down opposite Leon.
"Where are the others?"
"Morlock took them to get their mercenary ID verified."
"Oh, then let's wait here for a bit."
As she spoke, Serea looked around at the interior of the tavern. As the trade post had just opened, there weren't many adventurers and mercenaries here yet, but it was still fairly lively, and the fox-tribe waitress girls were indeed quite easy on the eyes.
Casually ordering a glass of iced wine, Serea poured and drank for herself. Free from the so-called Queen's title, it was quite nice to enjoy a bit of leisure here.
"Have you gotten used to things these days?"
"Yeah."
"Good, you'll have to keep handling things for us from now on."
"You can count on us."
Leon patted his chest as he spoke. After saying this, he looked at Serea's masked face, and then something seemed to come to his mind.
"Right, my lord, may I be so bold as to ask if you have any other sisters?"
Leon asked, and at this, Serea's brows furrowed slightly.
"Why do you ask?"
"Well..."
Leon hesitated for a moment, then glanced around. Seeing that everyone else was some distance away, and as it wasn't a secret matter, he organized his thoughts and said,
"The thing is, I saw someone in Sedis City who looked just like you..."
Before he could finish, the tavern door flung open, making such a loud sound that everyone turned to look.
Exquisite silver armor, a glamorous knight's longsword—there were a total of ten people, all in uniform. The one leading them was a young man who, after entering, surveyed the tavern.
Although the tavern was fairly clean and tidy, he still showed a clear look of distaste.
If not for the fact that this newly built camp had only this place to eat, as a noble Holy Knight, he would never have come to such a place.
But displeasure aside, a meal was still a meal...
He turned to the beautiful woman in light armor behind him.
"My apologies, miss Lilith, bringing you to a place like this wasn't my intention, but this camp only has one tavern, so—"
"It's just a meal, no need for so many requirements."
The young woman spoke as she ignored the young man and walked straight into the tavern. After she took her seat, the other knights joined her.
Manshir felt somewhat embarrassed and displeased at being ignored by the young woman, but he dared not show it, for she was the Saintess after all.
Lilith's table quickly filled up, so Manshir could only awkwardly sit at the table beside hers.
That's right, this was Manshir, the Inquisitor Commander of Sedis City's Holy See branch. Joining him was Preacher "Astor."
They had come with the Saintess "Lilith" to investigate the Undead eruption incident, and it just so happened that a new trade post had been established at the jungle's edge, making it easier for them to conduct their investigation.
After sitting down, lilith was the first to ask,
"Has everyone's lodging been arranged?"
"There aren't many empty rooms, but it's not a problem for everyone to stay."
"That's good."
Lilith responded. She had brought thirty junior Holy Knights with her this time. Regardless of anything else, at least basic food and lodging had to be settled during the mission.
The person who answered her was Preacher "Astor."
Watching that crusty old man being able to talk with the Saintess, manshir—relegated to a neighboring table—couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy.
"Waitress, please bring the menu."
Manshir called out, and seeing such a grand scene, the fox-tribe waitresses were a bit intimidated, but one finally mustered her courage and approached.
They were discussing what to eat for dinner. Meanwhile, leon, sitting opposite Serea, glanced at the young woman at the nearby table, then back at the mask-wearing Serea.
"Uh...this...this..."
Leon was completely dumbfounded. Serea's brows furrowed tightly—the sudden appearance of that blonde-haired girl had taken her completely off guard.
Honestly, the Holy Empire was situated at the northernmost edge of the Eastern Continent, while she herself was at the southernmost tip, yet they could bump into each other after crossing the entire continent? This is just unreal!
That's right—the person sitting at the table behind Serea, just one table apart, was Lilith, Serea's twin sister.
The food hadn't been served yet when Lilith began sizing up the tavern. She then looked over toward Serea's table—more precisely, at Leon.
Leon had been staring straight at her, and under such a gaze, lilith felt a bit displeased.
But, as a maiden, she restrained herself and said nothing. That didn't mean, however, that others wouldn't.
"Mercenary, how dare you stare at Saint... Miss Lilith like that? Are you looking for a fight!"
It was Manshir who spoke—having just been met with Lilith's cold indifference, he was already in a foul mood. With Leon suddenly popping up, his emotions erupted.
Hearing the knight's words, Serea felt even more certain—it was indeed "Lilith Otto Bloodstorm."
Seriously? She had just come out for a stroll and ran smack into something like this? Did she step in something on her way out?!
"I..."
"Shh."
Serea made a silencing gesture. Seeing this, the about-to-lose-it Leon immediately got her meaning. Though utterly perplexed, he clearly realized that Serea didn't want to attract any attention from these people.
Meanwhile, beside them, faint golden light particles appeared around Manshir—holy light!
He was intimidating them!
"My lady, you are truly beautiful—I was momentarily entranced. But I must apologize; I sincerely apologize for my rudeness just now."
Leon spoke and gave a perfectly standard knight's salute. After all, every woman likes to hear nice things, and Lilith was no exception.
Facing Leon, who maintained his bow, she relaxed her brows and replied calmly,
"It's all right. I also apologize for my companion's rudeness to you."
Lilith said. On hearing this, manshir felt even more unhappy.
"Lady Lilith, this fellow just now—"
"Sir Manshir, have you forgotten what I told you before? I hope you can keep a lower profile in the future."
Lilith spoke, and everyone looked toward Manshir.
They had changed into ordinary outfits precisely to avoid drawing attention, but now Manshir had blown their cover—anyone could tell there were two tables of Holy Knights here.
Sure enough, when the others in the tavern saw Manshir's holy light, they began to gossip. Realizing his blunder, manshir felt remorseful.
"Y-yes, I was too rash. I apologize."
Manshir apologized, sensing how Lilith was suppressing her anger. As for her response, lilith said nothing further, perhaps too lazy to say more. She simply nodded at Leon, who returned the gesture and sat back down.
"Hu..."
Serea let out a breath of relief. Thankfully, she hadn't been discovered—but she needed to get out of here fast. Who knew what sort of bad luck would befall her if she stayed any longer?
With that in mind, Serea downed her iced wine, using the cold drink to steady her nerves. Then, resolving to leave with Leon as soon as possible, she also planned to quickly warn Leklis and the others not to say anything carelessly.
Suddenly, someone rushed into the tavern. Due to his angle, he didn't see Lilith, but he recognized Serea's back right away.
"Lady Serea, I'm back!"
