Chapter 271 | 271 | The Kingdom of Monstra

Chapter 271 | 271 | The Kingdom of Monstra

After the agreement between the two sides, the daemon generals were toured throughout the entirety of Installation 0 in the span of three days. It was to give them the best idea of what the United World Government was and what it stood for. Naturally, with the guidance of Echidna, they were participative, creating a cohesive approach in their tour.@@@@

However, as they were the pillars of the Kingdom of Monstra, their tour couldn't last any longer than three days. Afterward, it was time for them to return alongside their Monarch. After all, the Continental Region of Typhon wasn't without its treacherous dangers. The kingdom needed their elite forces to be there to defend them.

Nevertheless, in correlation to the agreed terms of the two sides, alongside the daemon generals and their Monarch would be the Envoy of the World Government. The individual chosen for such honor was none other than the Director of the Atlas Corporation as she was specialized in handling foreign economic intelligence and governance.

Mercedes was the best person for the job.

"I cannot believe the two of you just decided to throw me halfway into the world." The silver wolf lycanthrope coldly gazed upon the only two person which she held a higher regard throughout the entirety of her life. Before her was Laplace and Abraham, who were barely able to maintain their smile.

"You're the best person for the job, Mercedes. That was what my hubby told me." Laplace explained with a smile, inexplicably throwing Abraham under the bus. It was already too late for him to defend himself as her cold gaze landed upon him, giving him chills for some reason despite being the Sun God.

"Consider this a favor, Mercedes. Besides, you really were the best person for the job." Abraham remarked, earning the sigh of the silver wolf. She turned her attention towards Echidna who was behind her preparing a spell circle and questioned. "Should I transform myself to be more beastfolk-looking?"

Echidna merely shook her head and replied as she traced through her previous spell. "There's no need for that. There are many humanoid monsters within Monstra. A human-looking person with animal features isn't that rare in my kingdom." Hearing the response, Mercedes nodded in understanding. "Alright, I'll keep my form as it is."

After some time, Echidna finally completed the retracing of her spell and immediately beckoned the daemon generals and the envoy of the World Government to stand near her. All of them stood around her as the spell gleamed with brilliance and swiftly propelled them into the heavens, heading towards the direction of Monstra.

Mercedes calmly observed as the Ferus Sea became smaller and smaller as they were slowly headed towards a vast continent that had been a mere legend to her. It was the continent of humanity, Europa. The expansive landmass wasn't to be underestimated. Its mere size around was double that of the entirety of the Ferus Sea.

It was pretty big. Read exclusive chapters at My Virtual Library Empire

As they walked through the capital city of Monstra, Mercedes continued observing the state of the city. Her gaze narrowed as thoughts surged through her head. 'Their economy isn't that bad, but it also isn't good. It's barely above average, which is to be praised for.'

'Kingdoms aren't usually known for their economy prosperity. But I do notice the peculiarity of their architecture, a combination of different styles, suggesting the mixing and melting of various cultures. It seems that the kingdom of Monstra isn't a monoethnic state.'

'Combined with their possible military might, they aren't half bad in comparison to our nearby neighbors. Though, their governance remained in question until I meet their so-called council.' Mercedes turned her attention towards Echidna, the Monarch of Monstra.

For someone who was considered as the ruler of the state, Echidna wasn't as proactive as she was within the Citadel. Perhaps, there was something amiss she hadn't taken notice. After all, Echidna's power wasn't to be underestimated. Although the daemoness wasn't as strong as the dragon and the perverted middle-aged man, Echidna was still a powerhouse.

As they moved through buildings, they finally arrived at the castle of lords. It wasn't grandiose, massive, or anything special. It merely resembled a castle, no more, no less. But there was some integration of lower technologies, which might be the part that Echidna had brought herself. After all, Abraham had introduced the daemoness as part of a long line of relatives.

When they entered the castle of lords, they were met with a grand circular hall encompassed by seats. Each chair was occupied a by a single lord and there were hundreds of them. It signified the vastness of the territory which the kingdom of Monstra hold as its sovereignty. Perhaps, in terms of landmass, they were much larger than the United World Government.

The daemon generals took a step forward as Lily gazed upon the lords that had encircled them. Without a tinge of hesitation or delay, she announced the declaration of the alliance. "The Monarch has decreed an alliance between the kingdom of Monstra and our human ally, the United World Government." It was at that moment when the silence was broken.

Lords immediately chattered with one another, unable to believe the news of their alliance to a human ally. One of them stood up and presented a resistance against the alliance. "A decree of an alliance without our knowledge is not a decree. What would our allies think of us? They would make it look like we stabbed them on the back."

The surrounding lords agreed as the daemon generals coldly gazed upon each one of them. These lords were the one who immediately groveled upon their kingdom when they heard of its establishment. And now that they had gotten themselves comfortable, they were already throwing their weights around.

On the other hand, Mercedes observed the lack of discipline, signifying that the kingdom of Monstra might be a fractured state barely holding onto its power. But such a conjecture remained in questioned, after all, the Monarch hadn't made a move.

The silver wolf turned her attention towards Echidna whose face radiated coldness and bloodlust. The edges of her lips rose as Mercedes understood that the Monarch wasn't merely a pushover.
