Positively 'glowing', Hiruzen looked at Team Tsunade in front of him and nodded calmly at whatever he gained by seeing them. First thing, Hiruzen was quite pleased by Kai's efforts in continuing to complete Missions. In fact, Team Tsunade's mission records were rivaled only by Sakumo Hatake and Orochimaru's personal records as the man would let a clone handle the team's D and C-ranked missions while opting for B, A, and sometimes, S-ranked missions personally.
"I do apologize for all the troubles the changes in the past month may have caused you. As you may already know, even amongst other Three-men cells, your team is special. But, I haven't brought you here for idle chit-chat." Regaining the severity that had made many individuals scowl over the past month as Hiruzen stopped giving leeways to many, Hiruzen commented, "Team Tsunade, due to their special status, is tasked with the Nara, Uchiha, and the Aburame Clan Head to screen the candidates to fill the position of elders that has been 'resigned' by Elder Koharu and Homura."
Tsunade calmly nodded. Wearing her usual cut-sleeved Kimono blouse only meant that her participation would be less than active. As Hiruzen said, he included them for a special reason, that's all. Thus, she accepted the scroll. It was an A-ranked mission in name alone so Kai was more than happy to participate.
"Next, I would like to discuss something else." Letting his aged gaze size Kushina up, Hiruzen hummed and spoke out, "Kushina-kun, have you given it a thought to teach Nagato things about his clan inheritance?" While Hiruzen would have loved to make this a private conversation, Tsunade had made it virtually impossible for him to solicit her apprentice for a private discussion nowadays and it didn't help that if each of them were... privately fooling around then they were training.
Instead, having some 'ethical' and 'moral' discussions with Nagato was easier but Hiruzen knew that the effects would be paltry at best. After all, Nagato was only an orphan in the name. Given how the Senju Clan treated the boy, they may as well be considered his family.
Kushina, surprisingly, nodded, "Yes, Hokage-sama! I did ask him three days ago... I realized that contacting Uzu is of the same difficulty for us as it is for everyone. So... I wanted to train my distant cousin." The reason was simple. Kai focused on Fuin... thus, he excelled in it and Kushina wanted to teach a noob to regain confidence in her talent. "But, he utterly refused me. Instead, he wants to learn the basic fuinjutsu from the hospital and Sensei so that he can find more ways to make healing techniques efficient."
Hiruzen nodded and didn't press the issue, "I see. That is quite thoughtful of Nagato-kun and I appreciate your charitable nature, Kushina-kun. Keep on working hard... and I would like all of you to read this report."
Saying this, Hiruzen handed a scroll to Kai who unfurled it promptly and let everyone read it... before they furrowed their brows.
"How... is this possible?" Kushina whispered in shock... and awe.
"This is an S-ranked information known only to the few and you four," Hiruzen remarked with a grave tone, "And this may also be one of the triggers... for the next... conflict."
"If possible, I would like you to find ways to achieve something similar, Kushina-kun. The reports from my intelligence source in Kumo are quite trustworthy and this information may just be available to all the other villages soon enough. If this method is mastered by another village, there will most surely be a war in a matter of months." Hiruzen remarked lightly as if the prospect of war was almost fleeting to him while Tsunade wondered what his Sensei's 'spy' was doing in Kumo aside from the dark-skinned babes.
Kai had his interest flickered but... the [Study of Chakra Weapons] and the Fuin Arts currently demanded all his attention and then he also had the rest of Legacy Skills to master.
It's tough being this adept...
But Grind!
In a matter of seconds, Hiruzen actually gave something for Kushina to work for aside from her heritage and he added lightly, "Kushina-kun, if you can manage to achieve this... I'm sure that nobody would bat an eyelid should you wish to accompany Team Tsunade in missions outside of Konoha."
Kushina's eyes widened in surprise and she nodded while Kai handed the scroll back to Hiruzen who narrowed his eyes at him and Mikoto, "And... I trust that your eventual discussions have proved fruitful. I did not curb the few unruly deputy police officers just to let the youth of Konoha fall further into the political grip of the clans."
Tsunade narrowed her eyes as the zinger was aimed at her, too and she snorted but kept her silence.
It was as Hiruzen said... talks have actually started going great and even if it wasn't public, many shinobi noticed stuff like this. Uchiha Clan's initial demands had been... curbed to the basics. The same reasonable conditions any other clan member would get should they marry out of the clan.
Most of it was done once the clan was poked rather harshly and their 'unshakable' position was threatened for once by Hiruzen.
Team Tsunade was soon dismissed. Usually busy with her research as Rinnegan... was simply a lock so tough that required everything in Tsunade's arsenal to unravel even after so long. In fact, Tsunade and Kai had been stuck in one, possibly last, portion to 'unlock' the eyes. Thus, Tsunade was the quickest to leave the team and left the mission with Kai since he could take her stead in a legal capacity.
After checking things past the Uzumaki manor that was well-maintained but only utilized by Kai for their sealed chambers for training, the trio moved to the Senju Compound and settled in Kai's pad as Kushina huffed, "How the hell did some no-name runt manage to come to terms with Gyuki to become this perfect Jinchuriki?!"
The report from Hiruzen noted how a young kid had managed to 'master' the Eight-tailed beast of Kumo. It was honestly... shocking.
"Maybe this 'B' guy just had a reasonable conversation with the Biju?" Mikoto smiled wryly and Kushina pouted, "This is no time for jokes! You guys don't know... Kyubi is seriously scary. It was so huge!"
"Well, if Huge things scare you... we might have a problem," Kai gave his two bits and Kushina snorted again, "Kyubi was BIG! A GIANT BEAST! Hmph... but... if it's possible, I want to use the methods left by Granny Mito... I just wish she were here with me to help me..."
Kushina grew a tad bit downcast and while Kai did not consider revealing the secret of the masked maiden just to make the tomato-head excited once again, he did remark, "We'll help you out. I mean, once Mikoto and I are engaged, she'd be practically living here."
"You love slipping that fact into everything, right?" Mikoto smirked, "This, and back then, it was Yahiko getting injured, and even before that was when Nono was contemplating if she should cook us toasts or not..."
In reality, Mikoto absolutely loved the fact that Kai was so excited about this!
Kushina exhaled a heavy sigh, "So... it's just me then, dattebane..."
