Abyssal Sovereign: The Demon's Dominion

Chapter 494 - 493: killer

Chapter 494 - 493: killer

For one who had been served food from the time he was young until now, Azar didn't know how to cook. But what he did know was that during these past two weeks, he had watched as they prepared dishes, and there was one particular easy-to-cook dish he felt he could try to prepare. With that knowledge, Azar began working as he started cooking. A lot of noises were heard while Mela's body trembled from time to time.

Finally, after thirty minutes of tossing things around, Azar was able to cook something.

Looking at the result of his several minutes of effort almost made Azar cringe, but he still smiled as he walked toward Mela.

"Ehn... there have been some issues..." Azar spoke with the food behind his back. Although Azar could hide what the food looked like, he couldn't hide what it smelled like.

Mela's body shook slightly as she laughed softly, then a tiny voice was heard.

"Le... let me... see... Master..." Mela struggled to speak.

She had gone through this several times. She wasn't supposed to react this way, but maybe it hit harder after Azar had given her hope.

But she was recovering after all. She was a maid. Her life and death didn't matter.

Hearing this, Azar's eyes widened and his smile expanded. He hadn't expected Mela to recover this quickly.

He didn't even realize when he brought out the burnt food and showed it to Mela.

It was only when he heard laughter like soft chime bells that he realized he had brought it out, but it was too late to take it back. Mela had already seen it.

"Master, I will take care of it..." Mela spoke softly, her smile genuine.

She knew that the more down she seemed, the more worried Azar would become. Knowing that, she stood up and picked up some clothes to start putting them on, but Azar stopped her.

"Wait," Azar said as he walked closer to her.

Holding her clothes while being naked, Mela felt slightly uncomfortable. After all, she knew her body was good, and Azar must be tempted, but she wouldn't mind anyway.

It had become a common thing for her. Besides, Azar was her master, and as a maid, she had to serve him.

But she was clearly thinking too much.

A soft hand touched her, and then she felt those painful, healing wounds disappear.

All around her body, her scars and injuries were healed as Azar said softly,

"I have become a Tier 4 Magi. I promise you, not again, and I will make sure of it."

Azar spoke as Mela felt the heaviness in her heart begin to disappear. Those words felt comforting.

But before the moment could last, Azar quickly ran off as he shouted,

"Erm... your clothes, Mela... I'm sorry, I didn't see anything!"

Mela chuckled.

She waited for a few seconds, looking at the closed tent with a pure smile on her face, then she started preparing their food.

Outside, Azar's expression changed. The smile was gone.

No doubt, he had killed those three nobles.

But those three maids were innocent.

That was too much.

Way too much.

His heart couldn't bear it.

So Azar took off, heading toward one of the higher-ups. He wanted to report his crime, but...

Someone familiar yet unexpected appeared.

"Come with me," Osiris said with a frown as he touched Azar, and instantly they disappeared.

When they reappeared, Osiris was seated while Azar stood across from him.

This time, the smile on Osiris's face was gone. In its place was a solemn expression.

"What did you do?" Osiris asked, his expression indifferent.

Azar had a shocked expression on his face.

"What did I do?" Azar asked.

Osiris's expression changed once more.

"You attacked and killed those nobles?" Osiris asked.

Azar felt his heartbeat skip as silence filled the room for a few moments before he spoke.

"Yes..." Azar replied.

Then he felt as though his eyes would give out as he sensed a threat of death.

His skin crawled, and the hairs on his arms stood on end.

He smelled the scent of death.

"You... are a Mana-Devouring Beast," Osiris spoke.

Azar stepped back in shock.

"What?" Azar asked.

But Osiris shook his head.

"We don't have time. We have to leave now."

Osiris spoke as Azar's eyes widened.

"No, no, what are you saying?"

"I said, bitch, you are a Mana—"

"Wake up!"

"AHHHHH!"

Azar woke up, his breathing heavy as he was drenched in sweat.

"Master, are you okay?" Mela asked from the side.

Dishes were placed around them, and Azar was lying with his head on Mela's thigh.

"What... what happened?" Azar asked as an intense headache swallowed his thoughts.

"Master, you waited outside for a while for me to get dressed, but I noticed you were sweating, and before long, you lost consciousness."

"But because your breathing was normal, I figured you might be drained and tired, so I let you be," Mela spoke as Azar remembered.

Yeah, he went out so Mela could change, then he was thinking about how to solve the issue when he suddenly felt a headache, overwhelming tiredness, and his vision blacked out.

"Thank you, Mela," Azar spoke as he stood up.

His stomach growled in protest as Mela chuckled.

Looking at the calm Mela and her smile, he realized she was either over it or just pretending.

Azar felt his resolve strengthen even more.

He knew what he had to do, and he would do it.

He had to protect Mela.

He remembered his promise to the veterans, to Mela,

Even to the red-robed individual.

And it all started from now.

So even though he wanted to turn himself in, not yet.

He needed to fulfill those promises first.

"Let's eat then," Azar spoke as Mela nodded, and the two stood up and started eating.

---

In the base, the news of the three nobles and three maids had already spread. Because they were nobles, the matter spread quickly and was taken far more seriously.

An investigation was carried out.

Its purpose was to find the three nobles.

No one cared about the maids.

But no matter how much they searched, everything had been cleaned up, and nobody saw anything.

The only clue would have been Mela, but that avenue had been cleared.

As for Azar, the news of him searching for his maid was already known, but when Azar stated that he had found her outside, and with Mela helping support the story, he was cleared of suspicion.

Soon, the issue seemed to be hanging by a thread as days passed.

Whenever he was free, Azar went to meet the veterans he had returned with, but he noticed that the way they treated him had changed somewhat.

Not hostile, but not friendly either.

Only Oru remained the same.

Soon, however, it was time for the veterans to leave.

They had only a week left.

Hearing this, Azar knew he had to do something.

Then it seemed the secret could no longer be kept.

That evening, terrifying news broke out.

First, the killer of the three nobles was revealed to be Azar.

Second, Azar was a Tier 4 Magi.

The news shook the entire base.

After all, the investigation had never even come close to finding the culprit. In fact, they had only recently begun looking into what had happened several days earlier.

Azar knew it was only a matter of time before he was discovered.

So how about he revealed it himself?

Deep within the base, several military personnel sat around a round table with Azar seated in the middle.

"Why did you kill them?" one of the elderly men asked.

Azar answered calmly.

"They touched my maid without my consent."

Their expressions changed.

"So you killed them in a fit of rage? Basically a case of disrespect?" one asked as the others nodded.

"Well, in that case, we can't hold you responsible. That is, if you don't die here. But if you make it out of this war, you will be left alone to face the wrath of those noble families. I hope you considered that."

They finished speaking and seemed ready to leave.

Azar was stunned.

"Wait, what?"

"No disrespect, but they treated the maid like an animal."

"Also, not only did the three nobles die, but I killed the other three maids. Don't you care about them?" Azar asked.

"Well, the maids knew what they were getting into before they signed up for this."

"Mr. Azar, we are done here. Our mission was simply to find out who was responsible so we could give the families of the deceased a name, especially if the killer was found. Whatever happens next is not our concern."

They finished speaking and stood up to leave.

"Wait, what?"

"Are you people serious?"

"Don't you treat maids as humans?"

"You watch them die and don't care?" Azar spoke, his expression grim.

"Mr. Azar, you really aren't the one to lecture us about this."

"You confessed to killing those three maids with your own hands."

"I would worry more about the families behind the nobles you killed than about those maids."

They finished speaking and left, leaving Azar standing alone in the room, his mind filled with thoughts.
