Chapter 195: 195:Worried Parents
Claire stormed into the room, her expressions a mix of fear and fury.
Her sudden and dramatic entrance startled Roy, who was hunched over his desk, deeply engrossed in his work.
The force of her hand slamming down on the table made him jump, his heart racing as he looked up, stunned by her aggressive demeanor.
"Darling, what's wrong?" Roy asked, his voice a mix of concern and confusion. "Why do you look so upset?"
Claire's anger flared. "You... Are you kidding me?" she shouted, her voice sharp and trembling with emotion.
She thrust her tablet towards Roy, her hand shaking. The screen showed a chaotic array of news articles and hastily compiled documents.
Roy's eyes scanned the news reports about a recent explosion in BBSR. Headlines speculated about a possible terrorist attack or sabotage by competitors disgruntled with Next Gen Innovations, which had recently stirred up significant controversy with their VR headsets.
The information was a disorganized mess.
Seeing his wife's distress, Roy tried to calm her.
"Evan is alright. He's not the one to give in so easily," he said, offering a reassuring smile.
But Claire's breath came in quick, shallow gasps. Her eyes, usually so composed, were now filled with a storm of emotions.
"How can you be so sure?" she asked aloud, glaring at Roy, who shivered due to her gaze.
Roy leaned back in his chair, trying to maintain a calm demeanor. "I've been tracking Evan's whereabouts. He's currently in the Nicobar Islands. He left a few weeks ago and hasn't returned yet. Given his location, it's highly unlikely he's involved in this incident."
Hearing this, the distress in Claire's eyes lowered a bit and her shoulders slumped slightly, but her face remained tense. She struggled to process the relief mixed with lingering worry.
"What about the bodies?" she asked, her voice nearly a whisper, betraying her deep-seated fear.
"From what my sources say, some of the bodies are foreigners. The full details are still unclear," Roy explained, trying to offer as much reassurance as he could.
Claire's emotions ebbed, relief slowly washing over her, only to be quickly replaced by the undertow of her anxiety.
Soon, Daniel found himself amidst towering human monoliths, breathtaking buildings that seemed to rise out of the forest itself.
The architectural marvels seamlessly blended with the natural environment, creating a striking cityscape that was both imposing and harmonious with its surroundings. It felt as though he had entered a capital city of a futuristic realm, where nature and modernity coexisted in perfect balance.
His small golf cart navigated through this impressive landscape, finally arriving at a grand entrance. As he stepped out, Daniel was greeted by a familiar face, waiting for him with a warm smile.
As Daniel disembarked from the golf cart, he was immediately surrounded by a group of well-dressed individuals who exuded an air of importance. They were part of Evan's team, and their presence added to the impressive atmosphere of Nicobar.
One of the men, wearing a sleek suit with a hint of traditional flair, approached Daniel with a firm handshake. "Welcome to Nicobar, Mr. Daniel. I'm Marcus, Sir Evan's man. We've been expecting you."
"Thank you, Marcus," Daniel replied, shaking his hand firmly. "It's good to finally be here."
Marcus gestured towards the grand entrance. "Please, follow me. Sir Evan is eagerly awaiting your arrival."
As they walked, another team member, a woman dressed in an elegant yet functional outfit, introduced herself. "I'm Eliza, the operations manager here. We'll be handling all the logistics for your visit. If you need anything at all, don't hesitate to ask."
Daniel nodded appreciatively. "Thank you, Eliza. I'm sure everything will go smoothly."
As the group moved through the city, Daniel couldn't help but comment on the stunning architecture. "This place is incredible. The way the buildings blend with the forest is truly impressive."
Eliza smiled. "We take great pride in preserving Nicobar's natural beauty while embracing modern design. It's a delicate balance, but one we've perfected over the years."
Marcus added, "And it's not just about aesthetics. The integration of technology with nature is crucial for our operations here. It ensures both efficiency and sustainability."
As they approached the meeting venue, Daniel noticed a few more team members engaged in conversations. One of them, a young man with a casual demeanor, gave a friendly wave. "Hey, Daniel! I'm Jake, the tech specialist. I've heard a lot about you. Looking forward to working together."
"Likewise, Jake," Daniel responded, his nerves easing slightly. "I'm excited to see what we can achieve here."
Finally, they arrived at the entrance, where Evan stood waiting, with a broad smile on his face.
"It's been a while since I saw you," Evan greeted warmly.
"Welcome to Nicobar, Daniel," he continued, his smile widening. The meeting was set to begin, and Daniel couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of a momentous journey.
