Chapter 51 GRAND MASTER YU PART 1
Chapter 51 GRAND MASTER YU PART 1
"When the stars align beneath the jade moon..." her mother's whisper seemed to crystallize in the darkness, each word carrying weight like drops of mercury falling through still water.
"The heavens themselves shall bow and bend." The answering voice emerged from the void as if the darkness itself had learned to speak, its ethereal tone sending ripples through the spiritual essence that saturated the air. Li Hua felt the words resonate in her very core, causing her to clutch tighter to her father's back.
Her trained assassin's senses—which had never failed to detect a presence before—hadn't registered even a whisper of the speaker's existence. In her past life, she had tracked elite operatives through pitch-black rooms and sensed killers through concrete walls, but this... this was different. It was as if the voice existed outside the bounds of physical space itself.
"Grand Master Yu." Her parents bowed in unison, their movements carrying practiced reverence.
"Great grand disciple, Ming'er. It's good to see you both." Grand Master Yu's voice drew closer, carrying the weight of ancient wisdom. "Your youngest?"
"Yes." Her mother responded softly. "This is Li Hua."
The air shifted, and Li Hua felt an invisible force envelop her—spiritual energy, she realized, wrapping around her body like curious tendrils of smoke. Her small frame tensed instinctively at the foreign sensation.
"It's ok, little poppy," her father's gentle voice soothed, his hand finding her shoulder. "Let him look."
Li Hua forced herself to relax, allowing the spiritual energy to probe deeper. It felt like being examined by thousands of invisible fingers, each one testing, measuring, searching. After several breaths, the ethereal touch receded like a tide drawing back from shore.
"Come with me." Grand Master Yu's voice guided them forward.
They followed deeper into the inn, arriving at a small chamber lit by peculiar crystals that cast a soft, amber glow across the weathered walls. Her mother gently lifted Li Hua from her father's back, settling her between them as they took their seats on worn cushions.
Li Hua noticed her parents' attention fixed ahead with unwavering focus. Following their gaze, she found herself looking at Grand Master Yu for the first time. The elderly man sat in a simple wooden chair, his presence somehow making it seem like a throne. Despite his apparent age, he carried himself with the quiet dignity of a mountain—ancient and unmovable.
His face, stern and weathered as old leather, bore deep lines that spoke of countless years of cultivation. A long white beard flowed down his chest like a waterfall of snow, perfectly groomed despite its impressive length. But it was his eyes that caught and held Li Hua's attention—they shone with an inner light that seemed to pierce through flesh and bone, as if reading not just her thoughts but the very essence of her being.
"Master." Little Firefly's voice echoed in her mind.
"Yes?" Li Hua answered, keeping her face carefully neutral.
Li Hua pressed her lips together to suppress her amusement, gathering her thoughts before she spoke.
Your my grandpa?" She asked curiously, her eyes wide with exaggerated amazement. "Really? But..." she tilted her head in perfect imitation of childhood confusion, "how come Māmā never say I have, um, powerful grandpa?"
Her question seemed to amuse Grand Master Yu even more. His deep laughter filled the chamber again, the sound rich and genuine.
"Clever little one," Grand Master Yu said, his eyes twinkling with something that looked suspiciously like pride. "You remind me so much of your mother when she was young. Always quick to find her way out of trouble."
Li Hua caught her mother ducking her head slightly, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. It was strange to think of her elegant, composed mother as a child getting into trouble.
"Your golden core..." Grand Master Yu's voice grew thoughtful as he gazed at Li Hua, his ancient eyes seeming to peer through her physical form. "Quite magnificent to see in person. And that white dragon coiled around it—truly remarkable."
Li Hua tensed slightly at his words.
Grand Master Yu reached into his robes and withdrew a delicate necklace that caught the amber light. A small jade bunny pendant dangled from the silver chain, its ears perked up as if listening to some distant sound. The jade seemed to pulse with an inner light, its soft green glow warming as it drew closer to Li Hua.
"This is for you, little one." He placed it around her neck with surprising gentleness for hands that held such power. The moment the pendant settled against her chest, Li Hua felt a subtle vibration pass through her spiritual essence, as if the bunny was greeting her.
"It will hide your cultivation level from those below Martial Rank 7," he explained, his voice carrying the weight of wisdom. "Those of lesser rank will either see you as a regular human, or assume your cultivation is beyond their ability to measure—whichever their minds find easier to accept." His weathered fingers touched the jade bunny lightly. "As your own cultivation grows stronger, the jade will increase its concealment by two ranks higher. A useful tool for one who might need to avoid unnecessary attention. "Then, reaching once more into his robes, he produced a small silk bag embroidered with golden clouds. "And these are for your brothers," he said, his eyes twinkling. "Please give it to them, would you?"
Li Hua accepted the silk bag carefully, feeling the weight of what seemed to be two objects inside. "Thank you, Grandpa," she said softly, genuine gratitude coloring her voice. Such gifts were incredibly valuable—perhaps even priceless.
"You understand the importance of your gift?" Grand Master Yu asked, though his tone suggested he already knew the answer.
Li Hua nodded eagerly. "So, I can practice lots and lots, um and nobody will know how strong unless they're super strong like you, Grandpa?"
Grand Master Yu's eyes crinkled with approval. "Precisely. Now, shall we discuss why your parents brought you here tonight?"
Li Hua nodded solemnly, her small hands folded in her lap. Though her face maintained the innocent curiosity expected of a child, her assassin's instincts had already pieced together the likely methods. She'd seen enough violence in her past life to guess what Grand Master Yu was about to reveal, but she kept her expression carefully neutral, waiting for him to continue.
