Chapter 301: Chapter 269: The Importance of Bug Quality_2

Su Han’s tone was resolute; the vast energy of the Spiritual Energy Blood Sea was, for him, one of the perfect materials for fusion.

Among the many fusion materials currently available, high grade living monsters proved to be very cost-effective, and while the Blood Sea had not been actually fused before, the sheer amount of energy made its cost-effectiveness obvious.

Therefore, whether it was for exploration or fusion, Su Han was determined to proceed.

“I’ll go with you.”

Bai Qilan was the first to speak up. Everyone saw Su Han’s determination; since exploring the spatial rift was imperative, she at least could help with something by being at his side.

“I’m going to prepare. The camera might be disrupted and unable to record; be ready to take manual notes, and prepare emergency plans,”

Bai Shan said before setting out immediately, feeling rather helpless: “Here’s another dangerous task, having to take personal risks again, sigh.”

The entire research institute sprang into action, preparing for the afternoon’s operation.

Though the research institute needed records, those who would really participate were the people right here.

Supplies were readied, situation reports filed, and even Zhu Xiong was summoned back by Yan Meiyu and Bai Qilan to guard at the East City District 2 spatial rift.

Once the guarding commenced, unless ordered by Su Han, even commands from Bai Qilan or Yan Meiyu would be futile.

At the entrance of the research institute, Bai Qilan and others held boxes of various sizes, swapping their white coats for plate armor, all bracing for the operation.

The higher-ups at the research institute were no weaklings, with Bai Qilan being a Third Order, Bai Shan, Bai Qiuwen, and others Second Order, some stronger than others.

Switching to plate armor was just a precaution against potential accidents.

Su Han summoned the even more powerful Blood-Erosion Alligator Dragon, its massive body almost a third the size of the building, looming like a mountain and casting numerous shadows.

The sheer presence it released inadvertently caused everyone’s faces to pale slightly.

“The gap between Fourth Grade and Second Order has become even larger. Ordinary artillery probably can’t pose a threat, missiles, nuclear bombs...”

Bai Qiuwen murmured an assessment subconsciously, but his old friend heard him: “But it has to actually be hit to matter.”

Turning his head, Tian Jiaxuan said, “For humans or other carbon-based lifeforms, powerful shockwaves and high temperature burns are fatal threats brought about by bombs, which also account for majority of area damage. However, for monsters or high-grade Angel Envoys, these kinds of damage are already greatly reduced.”

Tian Jiaxuan glanced at the mountainous Blood-Erosion Alligator Dragon and spoke in a low voice, “Unless it’s a direct hit, it won’t cause much damage, and as for how much damage it deals, it also depends on the yield. It’s debatable whether it can be hit or not.”

“Let’s set off.”

“Is the Mother Worm here too? What about the nest?”

Bai Qiuwen spotted the Mother Worm at a glance, eyes flashing with excitement. But he quickly realized something—hadn’t Su Han said he had built a nest in the central ruins of the city? Wouldn’t that be a wasted effort?

“The nest is not from the Zerg, and neither are the Zerg individuals. They are independent entities capable of living outside of the Mother Worm but are also under its control. The difference lies in its presence or absence. Without it, there’s a risk of losing control.”

Su Han explained to Bai Qiuwen before scanning the rest of the group. He saw that they had all summoned their Angel Envoys and taken out objects from their boxes, preparing for what might be needed to record shortly.

As Bai Qiuwen prepared his equipment, he said, “The Spiritual Energy Blood Sea inherently has a strong interference and eroding capability. The unknown collective ‘will’ makes this erosion hard to dilute or weaken with Spiritual Energy, which means it can only be worn down via resistance. That is what you really need to be cautious about. We have conducted experiments where creatures from First Rank Inferior to Second-order Superior have been eroded by the blood sea. Without interrupting the erosion promptly, all of them turned into completely mad beasts, further twisted and mutated, or even died.”

Bai Qiuwen had data to back his claims and repeated them now as a reminder for Su Han to be careful, then even more careful.

Su Han nodded and said, “I understand. If something feels off, I will retreat immediately.”

“Good.”

Su Han climbed onto the back of the Blood-Erosion Alligator Dragon and then said, “Everyone, keep your distance from the Spiritual Energy Blood Sea.”

As his voice fell, Su Han soared into the sky, flying toward the Spiritual Energy Blood Sea.

The Blood-Erosion Alligator Dragon’s wings stirred the air as it flew. It didn’t accelerate to the maximum but instead flew steadily. Yet, the moment it ascended, Su Han could already feel the chaotic Spiritual Energy.

“Chaotic and disorderly, utterly without pattern.”

Su Han frowned slightly, his gaze falling on the barrier in the distance. The Blood-Erosion Alligator Dragon swiftly flew above the Spiritual Energy Blood Sea, and in an instant, the turbulence of the Spiritual Energy and a sense of oppression came, seemingly eroding Su Han’s body and the Blood-Erosion Alligator Dragon below him.

Spirit Melding Vortex

With a single thought from Su Han, the Spirit Melding Vortex appeared around his body, immediately drawing in the chaotic Spiritual Energy and disintegrating it, amalgamating it, and lightening the pressure considerably.

He placed his hand on the Blood-Erosion Alligator Dragon, and through the talent of a Soul Fusionist, he infused Spiritual Energy into its body, forming a purple Shield.

“Swoosh”

The Blood-Erosion Alligator Dragon immediately sped up, flying out several kilometers in a blink.

“Splash”

The previously gentle undulations of the Spiritual Energy Blood Sea surface suddenly burbled with large bubbles, churning even more intensely right in the path of the approaching Blood-Erosion Alligator Dragon.

From beneath the blood-colored waters, six or seven blood-drenched figures with twisted shapes, albeit with wings, and faintly resembling Corpse Ghosts burst forth.

They let out sharp howls, dragging their not-fully-formed bodies, and lunged at Su Han with incredible speed.
