Chapter 37: Chapter 37 Sharing a Bed
Murong Jiu thought that Jun Yuyan, after finishing his bath, would quickly return to his quarters.
Unexpectedly, after sitting by the window and reading for a while, he stood up and said, “It’s getting late, time to rest.”
At that moment, Murong Jiu still thought he was preparing to leave and quickly stood up to see him out.
Who knew that Jun Yuyan would actually turn and walk towards her bed? Before she could react, the tall figure had already lain down, and the soft bedding caved in.
She widened her eyes.@@@@
The previous few times, Jun Yuyan had only sat in her room for a while, leaving after sitting for a little over an hour. So why was he planning to sleep here tonight?
...
“Prince...”
She asked quietly.
“There’s a leak in my roof,” he found an excuse and only after saying it did he realize how clumsy the excuse was.
But Murong Jiu didn’t think much of it, “I see, it has been raining for so long, I reckon many households have leaky roofs.”
She slept soundly until dawn.
This was the most comfortable sleep she’d had since her rebirth; no nightmares, no startling awakenings, the first time awakening naturally.
“Miss, you’re awake!”
“When did the Prince leave?
” She inquired.
“He left as soon as it was light. A guard came by then; it seemed like there was some urgent matter, the Prince left in a hurry.”
She couldn’t help asking, “Did the Prince leave the estate? Has he not returned yet?”
“Yes, Miss. What would you like for breakfast? The new chef has prepared several different morning meals today.”
Murong Jiu didn’t have much of an appetite; she was somewhat worried about Jun Yuyan. What could have happened that made him leave in such a rush?
She felt like she was forgetting something important.
“You should eat a bit, Miss; you’ve lost weight these past few days. Also, Miss, you shouldn’t go out like you usually do today. I heard that a lot of refugees poured in when they opened the city gates this morning, and it’s very chaotic.”
Chun Tao’s words made Murong Jiu suddenly remember something crucial in the blink of an eye.
Her face turned pale, and she hurriedly said, “Chun Tao, quickly call in the guards; I need to send a message to the Prince!”
