Chapter 450 Damien's Triumphant First Hunt
Chapter 450 Damien's Triumphant First Hunt
"Shye Crowley!"
"Yes."
When his name was called, Shye stood up and nodded at the staff member.
He then jumped off the airship as soon as it was close enough to the ground.
Shortly after, the wyvern once more soared into the evening skies, leaving Shye alone in a dark forest filled with eerie trees that had white trunks and blood-colored leaves.
To mundane folks and low-ranked adventurers, being in such a situation spelled one's doom.
However, to Shye, whose eyes could pierce through the veil of darkness, it was just like any other day.
After looking around for a few seconds, Shye quickly realized that while the area he was in was dangerous, it wasn't perilous enough to threaten his life.
Still, he didn't dare let his guard down and immediately activated his [Mana Pulse] skill as he traversed the adventurer zones in search of creatures to hunt.
They were given only two weeks to slay as many monstrous creatures as possible, and Shye had no intention of wasting a single second.
After all, who knew what items Damien might have in his arsenal?
A few minutes later, mana pulse finally detected a monstrous creature, prompting Shye to retrieve both greatswords from the system's inventory.
It was a mere C- ranked creature worth a measly 4 points.
Shye immediately lunged at it to kill it in one blow, however, he couldn't help but worry whether the automatic recording crystal would activate fast enough.
Hence, he took it out from his spatial bag (as he wasn't sure whether it would automatically activate inside the system's inventory), and activated it manually, kicking the poor lizard-like monstrous creature unconscious in the process.
It was rather lucky that it didn't have to feel any pain as Shye cut its head clean off with one swift slash.
'That should be four points...' Shye mused while harvesting the creature's remains
In the past, he would've ignored such a low-ranked carcass, however, now, as a division leader, his perspective changed.
Every material he harvested could be needed by one of his members and could help expand the division's reward exchange list.
Therefore, it was wise to collect everything he could, regardless of the material's rank.
After all, some materials could be used for crafting consumables like potions, elixirs, and poisons.
'Did I successfully kill it?'
Damien was anxious to know if he managed to kill the creature in one blow.
Unfortunately for him, although it was the perfect sneak attack, his current attributes were not enough to one-shot the creature.
"ROAR!"
'Crap!'
Hurriedly returning the enormous hammer to his spatial bag, Damien drew his katana out, causing horrifying black lightning to snake along the edges of his weapon, roaring menacingly at the heavily wounded Crimson Vorper.
The creature wasn't intimidated in the slightest though as it was utterly furious, eager to rip the sneaky human that dared attack it.
With a single step of its powerful legs, the Vorper turned into a crimson blur, smashing its clawless yet powerful arms toward Damien.
'S-Shit!'
It was too fast. Damien was squarely hit.
However, his tough armor mitigated most of the damage, allowing him to easily stand back up with a few slightly fractured bones.
"You'll be the one going down today, monster!"
The battle between the two was fierce but it was evident that Damien would never have stood a chance had he failed his sneaky opening strike.
Finally, after narrowly dodging the Crimson Vorper's mad rush, the Aslan alumni was able to land a black lightning-empowered stab deep into its neck, allowing him to finally end its life.
"Yes! Hahahaha! Let's see how you catch up now, Crowley! This is just the beginning!"
...
Meanwhile, cheerful whistling from an ashen-haired young man echoed through a forest filled with peculiar trees that had white trunks and crimson leaves.
"Oh? Isn't that a (B) ranked Arorgasaurus?" The young man said nonchalantly, turning into a blur as he swiftly dashed towards the creature.
*FWOOSH!*
As a high-ranked monster that never failed to strike fear in the hearts of the forest's inhabitants, the Arorgasaurus naturally had sharp instincts, allowing it to detect the lethal danger coming from its left side.
However, before it could even see the ashen-haired young man clearly, its head had already separated from its enormous body.
"Sigh...where are the damned (A-) ranked creatures? Why won't any show up when I need them to?"
