Chapter 614 Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn

Chapter 614 Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn

The mid-morning sun gleamed brightly as fireworks burst in the sky, and bands played glorious hymns that told tales of hardship and triumph.

Beneath the brightly lit skies, an ashen-haired young man walked slowly down a long white carpet, at the end of which stood an old man, patiently awaiting his arrival.

Finally, Shye's hero inauguration has begun, and it is currently being broadcast worldwide.

Although only Valenzians knew of Valenzia's official broadcasting channel, their numbers were nothing to scoff at.

Moreover, since there was quite a sizable number of people interested in the inauguration of Valenzia Region's first-ever hero, they made efforts to ask around and search for Valenzia's official broadcasting channel, increasing Shye's viewership to around ten million.

However, most people were merely interested, while only a small percentage were truly in awe and would likely contribute to his system point earnings.@@@@

Nevertheless, as long as eyes were watching, there was a chance to earn more points, so all onlookers, regardless of their intentions, were more than welcome.

'I'm sure many are watching...Sigh, I hope something happens after I obtain my hero's crest...I'm sure I will earn a lot of points...' Shye inwardly sighed in regret.

He had a slight smile on his face as he advanced towards the old man at the end of the white carpet path.

However, despite his jolly and excited exterior, he was internally lamenting the lack of action, as it meant that he wouldn't even have a chance to show off and capitalize on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

After walking for about a minute and a half, Shye finally reached a tall, dignified old man with sharp eyes, short white hair, and a scar on his left cheek.

The old man held a scroll in his left hand while shaking Shye's hand with his right.

"Shye Crowley, I am Hale Eversong, the Head Director of the WAA. On behalf of everyone, I want to express our gratitude for your outstanding performance in handling the tasks assigned to you by the organization," Lord Hale announced, his presence radiating authority.

"It is my honor to serve the WAA," Shye replied, pretending to be serious while secretly not caring at all.

He knew he would eventually face a temporary conflict with the WAA, as they viewed Sanada's organization as evil and Dweezel's as a force for good.

It was hard for him to establish meaningful connections with the higher-ups of the WAA as it would mean nothing when the true battle began.

He was simply doing everything for the greater good of the world.

He was the damned chosen one, after all. He had to go save the world even if he didn't want to be the one to do it.

...Nodding approvingly at Shye, Hale Eversong extended his arm, guiding him toward a throne-like seat atop an elevated platform.

Shye then ascended with the grace and dignity befitting a true hero.

'Hmm...twenty-four hours to complete, huh? Maybe an Anubis had escaped the nearby death zones?' He pondered.

The old man wouldn't give him a quest that he wouldn't be able to achieve on time, and since fighting an Anubis, who was amongst the apex of (S) ranked creatures, would allow him to test his newfound strength as a hero, Shye actually felt rather excited to complete the quest.

'But what the f*ck is this failure penalty? Isn't this reward-penalty ratio a bit too unfair?' He pondered, only managing to snap out of his thoughts due to Lord Hale's voice.

"It is with great pride that I declare, from this day forward, Valenzia will have a pillar to hold up the sky should it collapse, an undying light amidst endless darkness. I hereby appoint Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn as the first hero of the Valenzia Region!"

People were naturally confused, as black was often associated with evil or darkness.

On the other hand, dawn symbolizes hope—a new tomorrow, resulting in most of them failing to understand why Shye chose this title.

However, it sounded pretty cool, so those watching from every city and town in Valenzia erupted into wild, thunderous cheers.

They didn't dwell on Shye's title but celebrated the fact that they now had a hero—one they knew well, who had forged countless legends and relentlessly created miracles as if they were effortless for him.

Soon after, the crowd began chanting "Shye Crowley" with great fervor and passion.

As their voices grew louder, Lord Hale unsealed the scroll in his hands, revealing an intricate crest with two crossed swords—one black and one white—over a large shield bearing the letter V in the center.

Amazingly, the crest slowly lifted off the scroll and floated toward Shye.

Five mages, who also served as operators, channeled mana into the scroll, providing it with enough energy until the crest reached Shye.

The golden crest then engraved itself into the middle of his back, illuminating the entire inauguration chamber with warm golden lights for five whole minutes before it settled down, revealing a golden crest on his back and causing a warm burst of energy coursing through his body.

He was all too familiar with this feeling.

After all, he felt it every time he increased his attributes through the system.

'Status!'

Naturally, Shye wanted to see his status immediately, but unfortunately, someone else had other plans.

BANG!

A loud explosion rocked the inauguration chamber's roof, blasting apart a large section and causing dust clouds to rise from the debris.

It then gradually settled, uncovering a four-meter-tall creature beneath.
