"Don’t worry, Mom, Dad. I’m not angry. I’m just happy that we’re together now..." she said, further triggering tears to stream down their parents’ faces.
"Sigh... if only your big brother could forgive us as well..." Maverick murmured, causing Maia to momentarily let go and glance at Shye.
It seemed her brother still resented their parents for abandoning them.
However, in the next moment, her gaze dropped to the ground, a hint of sadness in her expression.
She knew she had no right to demand that her big brother forgive their parents.
After all, he was the one who had worked tirelessly to raise her into a capable young adventurer, despite having nothing.

Even so, she resolved to at least make an effort to help mend the relationship between her mom, dad, and big brother.
Hence, the next moment, she looked at Shye with a determined look.
"B-Big brother..." She said upon mustering her courage.
However, before she could continue, her big brother stopped her.
Shye then walked towards his parents.
"Mom, Dad," he started, "I want to apologize for making things difficult for you and for my disrespect. While I can’t say I’ve fully forgiven you yet, I’m ready to start letting go of the past. I’ll give you both a chance to make things right with us."
Hearing Shye’s words, Alicia and Maverick broke into even harder sobs, stepping closer to their son and wrapping him in a tight embrace.
Shye still felt a bit uneasy, but he didn’t push them away and allowed the hug.
After all, with Hadean Varsa’s operations about to begin, there was no telling if any of them would make it out alive.
A few moments later, the Crowley family gathered around the table once again, prepared to reveal the truth about the world’s crisis to Maia.
After watching the recording, Maia’s head suddenly throbbed in pain, and she yelled:
"No! This is probably fake! Big brother, how could you frame someone like this?!" she exclaimed, covering her ears with her hands. "I’ve mistrusted you!"
Maia then tried to sprint out of the room as fast as she could in an attempt to escape.
Luckily, the Crowley couple had long locked the door using Hadean Varsa’s special method by reflex, preventing their daughter from going anywhere.
Shye watched everything unfold with a dark look on his face.
He desperately wished he could kill the bastards responsible for this to his beloved younger sister right now.
"M-Maia! What’s happening to you?!" Maverick cried out in alarm, while Alicia covered her mouth in utter shock, disbelief, and worry for her beloved daughter.
It was then that Shye slowly stepped in front of them and explained what was going on to his parents.
"It’s a good thing I was able to come and pick her up today at the Balkrow branch... Otherwise, who knows what that bastard hawkling might have done to her..." he said coldly.
"S-Son, what happened to her at the Balkrow branch?" Maverick asked worriedly.
"She introduced me to her boyfriend, Leffen Suntale, as soon as I arrived. I then interviewed this so-called boyfriend to make sure Maia was in good hands. But who would have thought that the bastard was one of Dweezel’s agents? That wicked old snake likely sent Leffen to poison Maia’s mind, just in case they failed to capture me..." Shye patiently explained.
Upon hearing her boyfriend’s name, Maia instinctively glanced at her big brother, her mind clearly not in its right state.
"T-That’s right! Leffen! What did you do to my beloved Leffen?!" She exclaimed.
Naturally, Shye took the question as a chance to further explain how he dealt with the guy for daring to lay his hands on his beloved little sister.
"Heh, of course, I beat that bastard to a pulp, broke his bones, and nearly choked him to death multiple times. He was just playing with your emotions. He was sent by Dweezel to poison your mind, probably hoping to use you as leverage to force me into surrendering," he replied coldly.
He knew that no matter what he said now, Maia wouldn’t listen—and only drastic actions would get through to her.
Shye silently thanked his lucky stars for taking Maia straight to the old man’s main headquarters.
If he hadn’t, who knew how things would have escalated, given her rather crazed state of mind and irrational reactions.
