Chapter 11: Chapter 11 Consumption Downgrade

Although there were sounds of water in the Space, Jiang Yan had never discovered where the water flow was.

Additionally, the Space could automatically identify and purify garbage, indicating that managing food, clothing, shelter, and transportation within the Space was feasible.

She had directly tossed the Imperial Concubine Chair from the living room into the Space.

Rummaging through her backpack, she tallied up the deposit receipts and realized that her goal of one and a half small targets for the day had vanished.

Nevertheless, grains and traditional Chinese medicinal materials were the focus of her stockpiling efforts.

Though the purchase price of the medicinal materials exceeded her plan, thankfully, the overall budget was under control.

Folding up the receipts, she took out her phone and settled into a relaxed "Ge You Slouch."

Gathering strength in the Space, she casually scrolled through the news, where the top trending story nationally was about an earthquake on a small island in Japan, which was dealing with the backflow of sea water due to nuclear wastewater discharge.

The comment section was filled with cheers.

There were also posts about extreme and abnormal weather abroad, with most instances involving temperatures higher than in previous years and people flocking into street fountains to cool down.

However, it didn't seem related to the apocalypse.

Checking her social media account, the comment section was full of requests for updates and expressions of concern.

But there were also a handful of trolls filled with malice, saying she was a harbinger of disaster, cursing her father and mother, and so on.

Some even remarked that with both her parents gone and owning a car and property, she was considered a hot commodity on the marriage market.

She couldn't be bothered to deal with it now.

Whether replying or deactivating her account, it would only draw more attention to her.

The apocalypse was coming in three months; she might as well let the keyboard warriors continue ranting a while longer.

After skimming through with disinterest, she closed the app.

Although she had spent her entire budget for the day, it did not stop her from adding items to her online shopping cart.

With that in mind, Jiang Yan quickly accessed various e-commerce platforms, continuing her frantic spree on miscellaneous small items.

The list included various styles of wigs and different fashion garments.

Just past a street corner, there is a small shopping center and a pedestrian street, where you can go for a stroll, get a coffee, do some nail art, and so on. Furthermore, there is a third-grade hospital and a government nursery school nearby; the overall amenities are quite good."

Listening to Du Ziteng's introduction, Jiang Yan looked up at the name of the complex: Shallow Bay.

The name was interesting.

The connotation was also good.

It reminded her of something that Song Deming and his mistress Zhang Qiqi had casually mentioned during a chat—the deluge back then had flooded most of Anming; there was a place called "Shallow something," which fared somewhat better, but by the time they thought of evacuating, it was too late.

The flash flood and mudslide that followed outside their villa cut off all paths.

Thinking about it now, it was probably this place.

"Beep—" Du Ziteng swiped the access card and took Jiang Yan into the complex.

She quickly surveyed the surroundings; the environment in the complex was standard fare, with five buildings neatly enclosing a garden in the center.

Inside the garden, there was an oval pond with water lilies.

The pond had some dead aquatic plants floating, left unattended.

Also, there were clotheslines strung with bedding and underwear outside some unit doors.

This indicated to a certain degree that the property management of the complex was subpar.

However, it wouldn't be long after the apocalypse began that the property staff would each go to their own homes.

Good or poor management, it wouldn't make much of a difference to the residents.

It was probably during work hours; other than a few elderly people with children, the complex was quiet.

As Du Ziteng led her towards building A at the far end, he elaborated,

"Sister Yan, we're going to look at the 32nd floor. There are four units per floor, and the landlord is a young man who bought it for his wedding house. Unfortunately, when he was about to register the marriage, he found out his girlfriend had run off with someone else. The landlord, not wishing to dwell on sentimentality, is eager to liquidate and go back to his hometown to start a business. It's quite a pity."

After hearing his gossip, Jiang Yan couldn't help but laugh, "What's there to pity? Business is always more enticing than dating."

"..." Du Ziteng paused for a second but quickly realized the impact of his mother's supposed real-life "disappearance" must have profoundly affected Jiang Yan and he quickly changed the subject,

"Right, right. By the way, Sister Yan, we had a few inquiries about those two properties you have yesterday. The offered prices were quite good; if all goes well, you could sell them this week. But if you're not in a hurry, I think you could wait for the prices to go a bit higher before selling. After all, both the location and reputation of the quality of those two buildings are quite excellent."

Without hesitation, Jiang Yan replied, "No need, sell them as soon as possible. The difference between the down payment for a second-sale on three properties and that on a first-sale is quite significant, after all."
