Chapter 178 Summer Pain and Melody
Chapter 178 Summer Pain and Melody
Another day, Clara was immersed in the online world, chasing various trending topics, and playing popular games with friends. However, this day seemed somewhat different from the rest.@@@@
The fervent excitement from before was gone, the restlessness was no longer there, and the desire to curse at everything disappeared. The posts that used to interest her now barely caught her attention.
She closed the forum early, crawled out of the immersive pod, sat on the bed, then lay down with her arms stretched out.
'Suddenly everything felt tasteless, but my mood wasn't that bad.' She closed her eyes, feeling her odd mood today, and began to reminisce.
What exactly had happened? Why did she feel this way? Were the games not fun anymore, or had the hot topic jokes lost their humor?
She sat up, walked around the room a few times, and, seeing the long-unattended mess, suddenly found the time and inclination to tidy up.
She picked up the bottles that had fallen in a corner, grabbed the old clothes she had changed out of, arranged the scattered items, and threw the unwanted ones into the trash bin.
There was no particular music or sound. The things she held suddenly felt more tangible than before. The bottle had a cute little figure drawn on the back she hadn't noticed, and there was a note from Granny Fu inside the cake box she had bought, urging her to eat more vegetables and fruits.
Sitting in the chair, Clara looked at the T-shirt in her hands. It seemed she had bought it last year at graduation when she had been shopping with Dudu, Hexia, and Lina.
'Time flies.' She stood up and put the clothes into the washing machine.
She loaded the old clothes and the bed sheets into the washing machine, and after starting it, the sound of rushing water, though not loud, gave Clara a subtle sense of comfort.
After enjoying the breeze on the balcony for a while, Clara returned to her room.
Today was the weekend. She hadn't opened her schedule board in a while, but today she took an interest in checking this week's homework. The tasks she used to approach haphazardly didn't seem as dull or as annoying as before.
As evening approached, she stood up, donned the wind-dried coat and skirt, and stepped out with ease, walking to a nearby restaurant in the apartment complex for dinner.
Her financial situation wasn't bad now, so splurging on some tasty food once in a while wasn't something she couldn't afford.
After a full meal, she walked back and upon seeing a supermarket, went in, later emerging with two bags of fruit—perhaps she was considering a healthier diet.
When she passed the familiar little shop in the alleyway, Clara knocked on the door.
"Come in." Granny Fu's familiar voice came from inside.
"Is that Clara? Are you here to buy pastries today?" The old lady asked as usual when she saw the familiar young girl outside.
"Yes, but today I've also brought some fruit for Granny Fu." She placed one of the bags of fruit on the counter, with nicely packed strawberries, oranges, bananas—soft enough for the elderly to chew.
"These look good, must have been expensive." Granny Fu glanced at the packaging and labels, already knowing the approximate market price.
"It's okay, I haven't been short on money recently," Clara added, finding it awkward to say things like this, feeling she sounded like Hexia from the past.
"You kids don't know the value of money, not understanding how hard it is to earn it..." Granny Fu thought of declining, but after Clara insisted that it wasn't a problem and that the fruit would spoil if not eaten, Granny Fu accepted.
