Chapter 94: The world is ending
While waiting for her mother to finish cooking, Bai Meiyue locked herself in her room and started cultivating again. She held the zombie nuclei that she had picked up in her hands and concentrated hard to absorb their essence. In her past life, she had a hard time while learning how to absorb these nuclei.
No one wanted to see another supernatural getting ahead of them. Thus, she never found a teacher who would teach her how to use these nuclei.
Back then, Bai Meiyue was in such a desperate situation that she actually ate these nuclei after washing off the splattered chunks of brain sticking to it. Even though it was disgusting, she did not want to die. So, she could only grit her teeth and do everything possible to stay alive.
Fortunately, she was a quick learner. Thus, after watching a few supernatural beings absorb these nuclei, Bai Meiyue also learnt how to absorb them.
So with the knowledge of her past life, she easily absorbed most of the nuclei and their essence into her body.
She, of course, left a few nuclei, as Bai Meiyue knew that her family would need them in the future.
"Yueyue, dinner is ready. Come down and eat." While Bai Meiyue was trying to channel the essence that she had absorbed into her core, she heard her mother call her from downstairs.
"Coming," Bai Meiyue replied as she finished absorbing the essence and then got back to her feet. However, just as she stood up, Bai Meiyue felt her body swoon slightly.
She caught hold of the edge of the table and tried to calm herself down.
"Seems like mommy went too hard on you," Bai Meiyue muttered as she rubbed her belly, which was yet to show.@@@@
Earlier she didn’t sense anything amiss but now that the exhaustion was pressing down on her shoulders, Bai Meiyue realised that she had crossed her limit.
As she stepped inside the main hall of the penthouse, Bai Meiyue could hear the voice of the news anchor. The drones that were sent out early in the morning captured the sight of undead walking on the street. Because of this, even the anchor was sweating like crazy as he reported the news to the world.
Seeing the anchor wiping his sweat again and again, Bai Meiyue felt amused. She wondered which news channel was working so hard that they were still operating after the tsunami.
Bai Meiyue, who was wearing comfortable yoga pants and a long t-shirt, turned to look at her family. She saw her mother clasping her hands together and praying on the floor while her two brothers stared at the news with a shocked and terrified expression on their faces.
She turned to look at the television and saw two zombies lurking outside a park, which was not far from here.
These two women must have gone on a walk in the morning, not knowing that it would be their last walk in that beautiful park.
"Yueyue, Yueyue, what should we do now? It seems like the world has fallen into chaos. The world is actually coming to an end!" Mother Bai rushed to Bai Meiyue and hugged her by her shoulders tightly. Tears flooded down her cheeks and she muttered, "We don’t even have enough food and supplies. What are we going to do now?"
Bai Jixuan and Bai Zhan were just as worried.
Bai Jixuan, as the younger one among the two of them, could still show some fear on his face. But Bai Zhan, who was the oldest of the three siblings, couldn’t fall apart like his mother.
He needed to be calm as the man of the house. He turned to look at his mother, second brother and Bai Meiyue before saying to them,
"Alright,mom. Stop crying. We can’t do anything at this point, so we might as well take things slowly. For now, don’t go outside. Who knows? Maybe the army would come and rescue us." Though he knew that it was highly unlikely, Bai Zhan couldn’t let his family crumble because of fear.
"But what should we do till then?" Mother Bai asked in a panicked voice. "We have no food or clean water. You heard what the reporter said, right? The river water has been contaminated and we can no longer drink tap water anymore. Will we even be alive by the time the army comes to rescue us?"
