Chapter 147: | 147 | UNS Orion Deep and UNS Ceaseless Skies
In the fleet admiral's office, the two authorities of the United Navy were swallowed in their conversation. They didn't seem to notice time passing by. What felt like minutes to them, an hour had already passed. And it was Laplace who first noticed the odd circumstance.
She turned her gaze towards the clock and noticed that it had been an hour since the intelligence officers left Abraham's office. Turning her attention back to Abraham, it appears he also hadn't noticed how quickly time had passed by.
While she would like to continue their conversation and let time pass for themselves, she understood that this wasn't the moment to do so. Abraham had just upgraded the Port of Dawn, there were a lot of things that needed to be done.
"It seems an hour had passed, Abraham. Quite fast for a simple conversation. I'll have to go now, Mercedes should be looking for me. You should also read their reports, I'm sure you'll need it." Laplace uttered, bringing the fleet admiral out of his conversation.
Abraham swiftly looked at the clock and saw that an hour had really fast. Were they that absorbed in their conversation? It didn't feel like it was longer than ten minutes to him. At any rate, he glanced at Laplace and nodded in understanding.
"Apologies for taking a lot of your time, Laplace." He understood that like him, Laplace also had her work piling up on her desk. She would probably return to her office and take care of the reports coming from the Special Response Unit.
Laplace merely chuckled after hearing him and remarked. "There's no need to apologize, Abraham. Besides..." She took a step closer and tuck his collar, pulling his lips to hers. It was one moment, but it felt a long time for the two.
"I enjoy spending my time with you." Afterward, she waved her hand and disappeared from the spot. Silence soon shrouded his office, while he sat frozen on his chair, thinking about the enjoying feeling in his lips.
It took a while for him to regain himself, and he chuckled while muttering to himself. "She really knows how to tug my heart strings. As expected of a dragon,"
Before Abraham could continue thinking about what Laplace had done to him, the telephone in his drawers rang. He raised his eyebrows and opened his drawer before picking up the telephone. "This is Abraham Shepherd, how may I help you?"
"Fleet Admiral, the commanding officers of UNS Orion Deep and UNS Ceaseless Skies wishes to meet you." A communication operator reported, making him realized what the call was all about. Abraham glanced at the submarine and airship near the docks and replied to the operator.
"Tell them to come to my office." He was also curious about who these commanding officers were. Especially the captain of UNS Ceaseless Skies, the Prototype Advanced Hindenburg-Class Airship. This was his first airship, so he was curious about what its capabilities were.
'The airship looks far more dreadful than the ones I have seen in pictures from the past. It resembles more of a flying warship than a glorified hot air balloon. I wonder what technology it operates to be able to create such a striking image.'
Abraham felt as though he was staring at some spaceship of some sort. To be honest, he would have likely thought of it as a spaceship than an airship if not for its name.
"At any rate, let's check out their detailed information. I'm sure Systema has some intelligence about the." He mumbled and called out for Systema inside his mind. 'Systema, please give me the detailed description of UNS Orion Deep and UNS Ceaseless Skies.'
'The Adamantium property of the airship might be connected to the United Navy, which makes sense in of itself.' Abraham carefully thought about the material the airship was made of. He could also have the R&D Department to research part of the ship, further increasing their knowledge of the new element.
"But before doing all of that, let's continue and read the detailed description of the UNS Orion Deep. From what I remember, it should be a Nuclear-Attack Submarine. Pretty, interesting." Abraham muttered before turning his attention to the digital screen of the UNS Orion Deep.
●| UNS Orion Deep |
➤| The UNS Orion Deep is a Virginia-Class Attack Submarine of the Block V designation. It is amongst the newest class of nuclear submarines capable of a broad spectrum of open-ocean or littoral missions, including anti-submarine warfare and intelligence gathering operations. |
➤| With this in mind, the nuclear attack submarine is incredibly capable in the lines of Anti-Submarine Warfare(ASW), and Anti-Surface Warfare(ASuW). It is completely capable of moving on its own for months in a time, making it the perfect asset for long-term operations. |
➤| The UNS Orion Deep has a displacement of 10,400 tons with a length of 140 meters and a beam reaching 10 meters high. It is also equipped with the S9G Nuclear Reactor, giving it a maximum speed of up to 35 knots. |
➤| Its crew compliment is about 120 enlisted personnel and 14 officers. It also has a payload of 40 Tomahawk Missiles along with the following armaments. It has 12 VLS and 4 torpedo capsules, capable of launching Mark 48 Torpedoes, UGM-109 Tactical Tomahawks, and Harpoon Missiles. |
➤| It would also be equipped with addition VPM module which contains four large diameter tubes which can accommodate seven Tomahawk cruise missiles each. |
➤| The UNS Orion Deep is the United Navy's Deep Sea Hunter. It will never fail to hunt a prey it has its eyes on. |
Abraham calmly read through the detailed description of the UNS Orion Deep. Only one word seem to dwell in his mind as he read through its description.
'Impressive.' The nuclear attack submarine wasn't to be underestimated. He could probably send it near the continent of Europa and have it harass military ports in its shores. This would probably buy time for the United Navy to prepare for a possible counter-invasion by the humanity of this world.
"Now that I think about it, the warships the system has given me is incredibly geared to harassment. With them around, I wouldn't have to worry about meeting unexpected ambushes and could probably deal some heavy blows towards our adversaries." He commented with a smile.
To the current situation of the United Navy, where it was preparing for the finale of the war in the sea region of Terra. These two warships might be able to turn the tides in their favor. After all, who in the hell would play fair in a battle between two factions?
Even the Colonial Dominion of Terra never bothered to play fair with its inquisitors appearing in the Port of Dawn to hunt him down.
"Nonetheless, there is one thing clear. The United Navy will grow further and will not stop until it reaches the very top. It will be a difficult journey, but a worthwhile one." Abraham smiled as he gazed at the scenic view of the city beyond his windows.
