CHAPTER 379 - "Why not be brothers?"
CHAPTER 379 - "Why not be brothers?"
"Be sure to not hold back!"
Theron roared as he shot toward Alex at a speed undiscernible by Alice, Ann, Luna, and Noctura.
It was just too fast for them.
But as they looked at the scene in front of them, there was only one thing going on in their heads: Just how did it get to this??
To know that, though, we'll have to move a bit back in time.
"So you are here to extend your friendship to the demon empire?"
Alex questioned with a brow raised in interest as he stared at the lion king, or emperor in this case, sitting on the throne with a comfortable expression.
"Yes, that is what I meant."
Theron nodded his head, causing the eyes of the demon generals and the demon ancestor to squint.
The emperor of the Ferox empire, who had always stayed neutral, wanted to side with the 'evil' demons?
This didn't sit well with them.
There had to be an ulterior motive behind his actions.
"But why, I ask? I find it difficult to conceive a reason for the ever-neutral empire to ally itself with what is deemed the 'evil' side."
Alex asked just the question that was in the heads of the others, putting more weight on the evil word, his tone turning more majestic and royal, causing the three of his women to raise their brows.
"Gah! There is no absolute evil and no absolute good!"
Theron, however, just slapped the armrest of the throne, growling a bit as if he were reminded of something.
"I align myself with those I favor, and unlike the hypocrisy of the human empire, I have always appreciated the demons' honest display of their feelings and emotions. Let the world label me as evil if it wishes; I am simply following my own desires."
Theron added with a shrug, as if really unbothered by what others think; it was clear to the sharp eyes of Alex, Luna, Ann, the demon generals, Selina, and Azaroth that Theron wasn't acting.
"Your reasoning is compelling enough to convince me that your intentions are purely your own. However, from what I understand, even as an emperor, there is someone you cannot oppose. What of their thoughts?"
Alex, however, had another question ready for the guy, as he knew what type of guy Theron was, and he knew that the last thing the guy would do was backstab, but what about...
"The guardian beast..."
Valerius muttered as the image of a large white tiger with glowing black strips flashed in front of his eyes.
"Oh?! Do you mean Master Shiro? He was never against it. He just told me to do what I see fit, as I am the emperor."
Theron's eyes brightened at the mention of his master, the only person stronger than him in the empire, the guardian beast of the Ferox empire, Shirozhan the white tiger.
He was very fond of his master, as he had always treated all of his students like their children; he was the sole reason why the Ferox empire was so united.
"I see, then I don't see any problem with accepting the hand that you have extended toward me."
Alex smiled, standing up from his throne, his body floating toward Theron, who, just like Alex, started to hover up in the air, slowly moving toward Alex.
*Grab*
Both of them held the hand of the other, shaking it with a smile.
Alex had no reason to accept the offer that the lion emperor had offered him, but there was no reason for him to kick away the offer of friendship from the fiercest and most loyal empire in the world.
It would be like having a safe house within the enemy territory—a safe house filled with entities strong enough to wipe out a puny empire like a human empire without an issue.
With Theron being his brother, Alex might even get a chance to meet this mythical white tiger and see what they look like.
But as he thought about the white tiger, the sound of a certain arrogant dragon played in his ears.
'Antares Blaze...'
Alex hadn't forgotten his promise to meet that guy, and from what he knew now, that guy was the golden dragon, the guardian of the Dragon Empire, Drakonis.
"What do you think?"
As they hovered mid-air, Theron's voice broke Alex out of his thoughts.
"Sure," Alex nodded, not seeing any loss in accepting the offer, causing the grin on Theron's face to widen.
"Then let's fight!"
The lion emperor exclaimed, joy clear in his voice, but those words caused everyone in the hall to frown again.
"Fight?"
Alex tilted his head.
'Where did this fight come in from?'
That was what he wanted to know.
*Grip*
"What? We have to decide who is going to be the senior brother and who is going to be the junior."
Theron chuckled, his hold tightening around Alex's palm, but Alex stood unaffected by it, causing the Lion Emperor to nod inwardly.
"What would that change?"
Alex questioned again, not sure why he needed to do it.
Weren't they already brothers?
Alex's eyes moved toward Valerius, but Theron replied before anyone could say anything.
"It is to decide who will have higher authority and who will be able to order around whom!"
Theron raised his nose, as if confident about his victory.
That was the moment Alex smiled as well, and that was how things progressed into the current situation.
Luna, Alice, Ann, and Noctura recalled the smug look on Theron's face as they gazed at the scene playing in front of them in the present and finally realized why it was happening.
They could vividly remember Alex's expression at that, and although no one noticed it, they did—there was excitement hidden within those haunting red eyes of his.
And that was enough for them to know that...

They were sure of it.
The sheer amount of elation that they could feel from the Lion Emperor was soon going to be gone—they had no doubt about it.
