Chapter 430: Chapter 323: Li Wenyuan’s Formal Invitation
In the Spiritual World, everything else faded away, leaving only darkness surrounding Su Han.
At one end of this Spiritual World, a slender figure appeared there.
Su Han focused his gaze and blurted out, “The Chairman?”
“Haha, is that what you young people call me?”
A hearty voice came through, and Li Wenyuan’s face revealed a kind expression as his eyes rested on Su Han.
Su Han smiled awkwardly and then spoke earnestly, “Elder Li, I didn’t expect it to be you.”
Su Han certainly knew Li Wenyuan, only he hadn’t expected him to take the initiative to contact him.
“I originally wanted to get in touch with Old Qin, but I didn’t expect to sense an even stronger presence, and I guessed it was you.”
Li Wenyuan said with a smile, “The old man took it upon himself to come and see what kind of young man you are, so don’t think of me as a bother.”
“How could I?” Su Han shook his head, “Elder Li, I suppose you are the one General Qin mentioned who would give me a welcoming gift?”
“Yes,” Li Wenyuan nodded, “He did tell me about you before, that for someone your age to raise a force not weaker than the Armed Forces District is no easy feat. I am far away in Fenglu, thousands of kilometers away, and seeing you in person is as tough as scaling the heavens, so I can only send a modest gift, hoping it could be of some help to you. Yet now, it seems this gift is indeed too insubstantial.”
“The so-called Undead Race is the name we’ve given them; they are a kind of race composed of skeletons, decaying corpses, and wraiths, very similar to the evil creatures mentioned in our bizarre and fantasy novels. Of course, they’re not indestructible, but they are more peculiar than the mutated monsters after the apocalypse.”
Since Su Han was interested in the Undead Race, Li Wenyuan slowly explained and with a thought, Spiritual Energy morphed into the likeness of the Undead Race.
Tall skeletons wielding bone blades, their hollow sockets flashing red; corpses with half-rotten bellies and decaying but wriggling flesh; and wispy corporeal forms like dark shadows...
“The most common are skeletons and decayed corpses. Their different forms usually endow them with varying strengths, but they’re relatively easy to handle. Firepower can destroy their flesh, and although they may not feel much pain, they can still be physically obliterated.”
“You mean wraiths can’t be destroyed?”
“Well, according to the Science Academy, it’s not solely the physical strikes that destroy them but the high temperatures and the Energy of shockwaves from explosions that destroy the Spiritual Energy of the wraiths, causing damage. Simple strikes don’t have such a severe effect on wraiths. All their power stems from the Power of the Wraiths, a kind of decaying, death-filled Spiritual Power that can infect and transfer, leaning towards the mental energy side.”
Li Wenyuan explained, “An attack that carries Spiritual Power, especially mental energy, is more effective. High Order Undead entities are quite intelligent and can wield undead script, which includes techniques for using and transforming Spiritual Energy, although it’s difficult to understand and carries a certain risk. The Science Academy once tried to use undead script to transform Spiritual Energy, infusing it into a monster’s corpse, resulting in a reanimated Undead monster.”
Listening to this, Su Han felt somewhat frustrated; if a monster’s corpse could become part of the Undead, how could Fenglu Base possibly win against them?
Bear in mind that if, during the apocalypse, the corpses hadn’t been cleared, there could be millions of them, and if all were converted into the Undead Race...
Seemingly perceiving what Su Han was thinking, Li Wenyuan then said, “The transformation likely requires the bodies to retain a certain degree of Spiritual Energy or mental energy. If they’ve been deceased too long, the Undead can only use their flesh and bones to enhance themselves. And even if the transformation succeeds, there wouldn’t be too many High Order Undead. We also have nuclear weapons to respond.”
Li Wenyuan sounded casual, but the idea of using nuclear bombs to cleanse the land seemed like a major final move.
“I’ve discussed with Old Qin, and the inscriptions from the Lizardmen Clan relating to Spiritual Energy are more numerous than those of the Undead Race, and they’re closer to our human civilization’s understanding of Energy usage. As for the Undead inscriptions, we’ve only decoded four: storage of mental energy, defense, offense, and mental imprinting.”
